Anyone here use Vigin Media ?
If so do you use the dynamode router ?
Link here
If you do...........is it any good?
Am I right in thinking this will replace my current old ntl cable router and D-Link wireless g router (and get riid of some of the clutter off my desk)?
Anyone help?

Re: Tech help
If you are on Virgin CABLE (ex NTL / Telewest) then I am afraid you CANNOT remove the modem if you add a router.
You need the modem AND the router.
The routers for CABLE and ADSL are different.
Cable routers DO NOT include the modem.
Non-cable ADSL broadband router usually DO include a modem (they are a combined modem/router) so you CAN remove the modem.

Re: Tech help
To answer your question about the router.
Why do you think the Dynamode will be any faster than your current router ?
The dynamode is only a "g" router so I do not think it will be any faster.
To gain some performance imporvement you need a "g+" or even "n" router.
As far as I know the "n" standard is still not ratified so any "n" router you buy will be based on the current specifications that may change.
I would wait until "n" is ratified and buy an "n" router then.

Re: Tech help
Thanks for the feedback.
The only thing I was hoping to gain was to get rid of some of the clutter - I have a very small office and desk.
At the moment I've got a cable router/modem connected to a wireless router. I was hoping the Dynamode bit of kit would combine these two pieces of kit and free-up a bit of desk and a electric plug socket.
I guess not though from what you say.
Thanks anyway.
