I watched it and i agree 100% they were fuckin awsome, Ashcroft has such a presence on screen, without doubt the performance of Glastonbury.

I saw them supporting The Black Crowes way back in '92 and they were awesome, genuinely intense and hypnotic. They lost that a bit as the developed but remain a great band.
Their first single 'All In The Mind' is a forgotten classic, stunning track

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

Didn't see them, but apparently they finished the set with their new single "Love is Noise" - a horrible slab of plodding, Simple Minds-esque drivetime rock begging for Virgin radio endorsement. Make of this what you will.

Re: 'The Verve' at Glastonbury...
I never understood why Ashcroft broke the band up at its peak. There have been big bands that have broken up after several big selling albums when they could have gone on longer but for him to do it so soon after they hit the big time was weird. His solo career was really trading on him being in The Verve. I saw him (solo) in London about 4 or 5 years ago and the highlights of the set were Verge songs. I really enjoyed watching the Glastonbury set last night. The guitarist seems to have gone the way many guitar players have gone in recent times - following The Edge from U2 - with banks of pedals at his feet. He was doing more work with his feet than with his hands. Lol. Sounded great though! I hope they tour cos I will definately go and see them.
