Apparently Clarkson is pocketing ?2m a year to present the programme (think how much that works out per minute of each episode!) whilst the other two are getting much less. The bloke most people hadn't heard of until he was all over the news following his car crash, and the other guy, are said by some to be a bit hacked-off that Clarkson is getting such a huge annual wedge. Some would say he deserves more as he is kind of the main presenter and is by far the most famous. The other two guys aren't as well known. Should there be equality amongst the three? Should Clarkson get more as he is very famous and the other two aren't really? What do people think? Also, should ANYONE on the BBC get ?2m a year for presenting a show that is only on for a limited number of episodes each year?

It is funny how anyone who works at the beeb earns good money, also take in consideration the articles He write in the Times & the sun. nice work if you can get it. Also think of that far cow Vansessa Phelps , Radio London , any tv programme going , and two papers that carry her writing.... all a bunch of lucky sods, buy yet again we are to blame... Does any one know how to find an agent.....I would like a bit of what they get paid....

Clarkson, like the typical Yorkshireman that he is, has a greater sense of his own self-importance than he actually really deserves. He truly believes his honorary doctorates in engineering mean he can call himself Doctor (which if you've seen his business cards, he uses). Yet the man doesn't even know the basics of how a car engine works!

Time the lot of them were all booted off and Top Gear made into a programme about cars, rather than a programme about 3 middle-aged gits playing around in cars!

Isn't it strange how one of the two other blokes, the one who had the car crash, became an A-list star because of his car crash. He was on the front page of numerous newspapers, on countless TV news programmes, and a guest on loads of chat shows afterwards. It's funny how someone's star can rise cos of crashing a car.

All sounds like your typical agent versus the boss nonsense that occurs around contract talk time

Should one person be paid more than the next.Probably not but it happens everyday in businesses where individuals enter into a contract

Sidenote is that women are lousy at knocking back offers in these types of negotiations henceforth why men get paid more than women

Clarkson's power in the Motor Industry should not be under estimated!

He has been the highest paid motoring journalist in the world for some years now.Whether you like his writing is down to personal choice but some of his earlier stuff was sheer brilliance.

A few years back when BMW launched the X3 he contacted BMW GB with a view to securing an X3 for his wife.Of course he wanted it FOC!laugh!

BMW replied that they would happily supply an X3 to Mrs Clarkson but not FOC.Cost price was their offer,so as not to be seen to be buying favours.

Didn't wash with Mr Clarkson though. a few weeks later he trashed the car on TG which actually resulted in hundreds of cancelled orders.When challenged he by BMW over this he and his producer replied that "Top Gear is an entertainment programme we expect the public to be able to be intelligent enough to see it for what it is".!hmmm!

This story came from the then head of product marketing at BMW GB.Incidentally Merecedes at the time were heavily in bed with Clarkson so were receiving rave reviews and he was "rumoured" to be receiving free cars!shocked!
