Ok Guys and Gals, I may be old enough to have JUST missed the War, Second World that is, but I have some difficulty with the shortening of language on here. I know I should know, but if everyone uses a particular abbreviation always, how the hell do I know what you're saying.
Specificaly, what does 'LOL' mean. A Forum poster used it today, and probably one yesterday, and so on.
I'm always courteous, especially here, so can I join the secret, please !

Is it Loads of Laughs......no, probably not.

.....but only in context: it can, of course, also mean Lots of Love.

Re: O/T : Insider Language....
Seem to remember asking the same question and WG pointing me to a site of abbreviations.I'd supply it but my computer blew up recently before I'd backed that info up.

Re: O/T : Insider Language....
...those Southern-Charms also keep using LOL in their headings to help generate business, and some of those are English, and Welsh....very English, and Welsh. Not sure whether laughs, or love, is appropriate !

Thank you, WG. I'll save it, bookmark it, and more importantly, start using it on the very next post !

Re: O/T : Insider Language....
Nice list woody, but for Danes benefit - I would have
to say that less than 10% of these acronyms are commonly
understood.
Perhaps we should add YAOTM though ! (look it up above)
