Many of us bring Wankewzr into the debate, Sam; for two reasons:

1. You both get shorter fuses with people who have 'dared' to take on wankewzr than with others. Are you his fucking thought police?

2. You are both becoming the 'holier than thou' people that he is.

For Caradog to leap down my throat at a joke made at the expense of a paedophile is why I have reacted as I have.

I'm not criticising you defending yourself against Carac, if you think he was being unreasonable; and there's no need to swear at me, colonel, just for asking a question. Who is it that's got the short fuse again?

And what's this about 'taking on' wazza???never had a problem with that either. He's so much easier to 'take on' now he's gone from here, though, isn't he?

I prefer 'taking on' people who can 'take on' me in return; I've always been fair that way??oh, look at me getting all 'holier than thou' again! Still, you can't accuse Wazza of being on my computer now, as he's apparently on Carac's today!

Just think it's a bit sad you having to bring him up as a retort to just about anything.

I used to spend a lot of time criticizing Islam on here in the noughties - but things are much better now.

Paedophiles are monsters, and should be considered such. I'm sure Olay, if he were around, would conjure up all sorts of psychobabble as to how it's not their fault they're as they are. The fact remains, they use kids for their own sexual gratificiation. When your sexual needs outweigh the lives of others, you are a monster.

Those who commit incest against their children are utter monsters. A parent's job is to protect their children, not abuse them. Those who feel their kids are theirs to do with as they wish are either sociopaths (lacking empathy for anyone else) or throwbacks to the more bestial version of man in pre-history, where the head of the clan could take any female he wished.

A senior police officer who is a paedophile that committed incest is a nightmare scenario. Someone supposed to uphold the law and responsible for catching monsters is revealed as one himself. Don't think for one minute that his entire arrest history won't be gone over with a fine tooth comb, just to see if any offenders slipped the net under his watch.

A pathetic, throwaway line about him getting bummed in prison during his sentence doesn't make his victim's suffering any better. Not that that is likely to happen anyway, since he'll be kept well away from the main prison population. But I'd imagine he'll find ground glass in his food; the warders might drop him a few times near the stairs. None of that will be a small fraction of the misery he put his own flesh and blood through.

You may think what you like about the case, and have the right to say what you like. Free speech and all that. But I have the right to find it distasteful and express my right, too.

In spite of your insinuations as well, I post here what I feel at the time I post, and stand or fall with that. Anyone who has posted here for some time will know I own up to mistakes when I get things wrong. I don't need anyone to express an opinion for me---I'm a grown-up and have my own.

This could have been a good thought-provoking thread but it descended into parody...
This case is local to me and many of his former colleagues are speaking out against him as you'd expect. What should be of concern is that Alexander climbed up the ranks very quickly and was in easy 'admin' posts after only 6 months in the force so someone was quite clearly 'watching his back' - nobody (and I know a few former coppers who can't recall him ever actually making an arrest) can understand why as he wasn't exactly a social animal....

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

To be in a position of leadership you should be able to inspire people and encourage feelings of confidence and trust on an individual and organisational basis. Quite how you do this with limited social skills is a mystery - perhaps it's a management bestseller which is waiting to be written by Alexander now he has time on his hands. Another required quality is sincerity which is a big factor in terms of credibility. If he'd never really got 'stuck-in' as a copper I should think that this too was absent. I know ineffective people are routinely promoted and over promoted, but you would think that personnel practices in the Police service would be more robust.

If he enjoyed patronage then the obvious question to ask would be 'Why?'

Apparantly he had 'something of the night' about him even 30 years ago, he reminded my dad of Uriah Heep (and no, not the rock band) - creepy & insincere

Unctuous .. as a rule of thumb always be suspicious of it. There's darkness in its wake !
