Wireless problems (suddenly)

Post by BeestonBoy »

Hey

Bit strange this, and given the stunning price per min of my ISPs tech support and the fact they have told me it may take 24 hours to reply to the Email I have just fired off to them. I thought I would chance me luck in these parts.

Had full internet this morning. Came home this afternoon and tried to connect, but no dice. When I tried to connect my router came up with a connectivity test page. Which told me that my PPP and ATM were both fecked...sorry not working.

Have checked the service status of my ISP and apperantly that is fine. Can only asume its a problem on the phone line, although that appears to be working fine.

Getting the same screen on my laptop and PS3. Also using my soap dodging neighbours unsecured network as we speak. So certainly not a problem with setting on the computer.

Oh and I have paid my last months internet bill as well.

Really stumped here. so over to you.....

Hey Beestie, try resetting the router, small hole in't back, then start a browser and typ http://192.168.1.1, or 192.168.1.0, and open the routers homepage, follow the wizard or manually enter your username and password the i.s.p gave you, dont know what router your using mate, so a bit difficult...

Oh and you may need to use a lan cable to re connect, dont forget to put a wep key in, use a 10 digit one unless you have summat to really hide, then re boot your computer..oh! go to tools internet options connection then lan settings, choose 'automatically detect'

We had this at work (AOL) a few weeks back.

Half a day of no connection then day and a half of connection continually dropping out.

All been OK since.

Can only assume BT / network issue.

I had this last weekend and I was on the phone with some bloke ata service centre for a record two hours and you know what the result was at the end?

My bt home hub is out of date!

I ditched it and used an old D Link modem which had excellent reception on wireless, x box and everything.

OEJ,

I've got 2 brand new, unused, BT Home Hubs (with internet phones) here if you want one? !laugh!

They wouldn't work cos BT ballsed my broadband up a while ago.

Went out and got meself a Netgear router which worked out of the box.
