Windows Vista Tweak List
Re: Windows Vista Tweak List
Lol @ the guide, its absolutely junk. Even just skimming through i can see thats its absolute garbage. Take for instance
18 - Make the 64-bit version of Windows Media Player 11 the default player in Windows Vista x64
Not a tweak at all, as it will force all videos to require a 64bit codec to playback, which in the majority of cases where the video isnt an MPEG/WMV will result in worst playback (H264/AVC as example) as the 64bit drivers are not up to the same level of optimisation as the 32 bit ones.
25 - Enable Readyboost on any flash memory device.
There is a reason MS prohibits some devices from running as readyboost caches.......its because they are too slow and actually hinder performance. When you first plugin a USB device and click readyboost it will do a quick test to see if the drive is fast enough and has enough IO to provide a benefit, if it doesnt you cant use it.......as it causes degraded performance.
34 - Boot Vista with all available processors
Another pile of BS, vista actually boots with all available processors by default, the option is only there if you want to debug software and test the startup by say using 1 processor only.
35 - Force 32-bit Windows Vista to use all your memory by enabling PAE
And take the quite big performance hit that Physical Address Extension gives, its definetely not recommended for home systems at all. If you want to use all the memory get a 64bit system.
I could go through the rest and probably pull 80-90% of the list apart, but i cant be arsed, hopefully nobody will actually bother with the majority of the optimisations here.

Re: Windows Vista Tweak List
We at Lizards lair run various laptops, some with xp and some with vista, also a couple of powerful macs to run Logic, and I have to say I prefer using vista I have got used to it, and it enables me to post more shallow shite which of course suits me... how are you Buttsie?

Re: Windows XP Tweak List...NEXT
Any tips to improve vista from that list that are worth it?
I always assumed there would be a lot of filler but am not geeky enough to understand most of it
I think the guy who wrote vista for dummies had it sussed out pretty much
maxing your memory, upgrading your graphics card & getting a faster connection will improve your system much more than utilising the numerous tweaks

Re: Windows XP Tweak List
I bet your PCs are maxed to the hilt?
Anything less and Vista runs like bullwinkle after a hard nights humping
Just discovered Black current flavoured tea by twinings so I'm happy as a pig in shit..so much so when the suns out and the weeds are sunning themselves all I see is beautiful blooms
Next filler list for XP play it safe crowd
Only question is can you do as much damage to your PC tweaking it as say fucking around in the registry following tips from the experts?

"I bet your PCs are maxed to the hilt?".........I believe they are, I dont understand macs, we just use them for sequencing and recording etc, I think they are mac books......whatever!
"Anything less and Vista runs like bullwinkle after a hard nights humping"
Bullwinkle does NOTHING after a hard nights humping believe me.

How Bizzare....Ms Lix drinks nothing but fruit tea, always twinings and nearly always black current, sometimes berry burst, or some shite like that, she always carries them with her.
Your not stalking me are you?

Who are you calling a Black Current ... you fucking gay little offbrownish courgette.
Anyway as long as you have a minimum of 2gb of memory and a recentish ?40-50 graphics card in your machine then VISTA will run like the Jamaican Relay Team on Steroids (they probably are anyway) although I am sure that Sam Slater will come on shortly to tell me that they were running Windows XP.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Your my pot of scales at the end of the rainbow
You should tell mrs liz that if she wants to have teeth into her old age retirement take it easy on the fruit.Strips enamel of teeth like whippsnipper does grass edges.
Thats assuming your not going to trade her in for a newer model

A useful feature in IE7 is to press the control button - and whilst it's depressed, scroll the mouse wheel or press +/-, to magnify/decrease the size of text on a web page. Quite useful when fonts are too small for bad eyes.
