Radiohead, Coldplay and U2 are shit

Kevin Bishop did and excellent piss take of Radiohead on his prog on C4 a few days ago. He sang a tuneful well known pop song in a very dull strangulated way.

Radiohead, Coldplay and U2 have all being going for ages but they are all shit. They all specialise in very paired down dull music with the same chord repeated endlessly.

Radiohead aren't shit, they are great with an awesome back catalogue. I respect U2's musical legacy but they bore me now and Bono is Very Irritating Indeed. Not a fan of Coldplay but it's ok background music

Quite simply:

Radiohead are rock and music visionaries a la Portishead- they have a mutual respect for each other too.

Coldplay and U2 are total fucking shit- although Bonio can seek redemption by being President of Ireland one day.

Radiohead are the greatest British band of the last 20 years, and still produce work of the highest quality....In Rainbows is head and shoulders above anything that any of their contempories are managing to come up with.

The old, and very tedious, debate about Thom Yorke's vocal style has been done to death, and surely any 'comedian' trying to gain laughs from taking the piss out of him, should in fact, themselves, be looking for a new career away from comedy, as it is neither original, or funny.

Radiohear totally overrated. Not a patch on the genius of the Beatles. I can't take seriously bands like radiohead who are so far up their own backsides they can't see straight. Their music is self indulgent tripe. As for u2,totally agree,pure garbage. Coldplay aren't greta but better than radiohead imo. Best band of the last 10 years...The Verve.

You're forgetting to say 'in my opinion'. None of those bands are crap .. they might not be your cup of tea but that doesn't make them shit. You might like to think so but you're wrong.

You make a decent argument except for 2 points...

1. Why shouldn't music be self-indulgent?.....Why should artists pander to the critics, fans, whatever??....The greatest music as always been produced by artists who seemingly don't give a fuck for critics and their opinions, and who are not scared to be different...... I guess Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Lennon/ McCartney, etc, could all have been accused of being self indulgent and up their own arses at some points in their careers, but as we have had time to appraise their work, we actually realise they are genius.

2. The Verve are fucking awful.

The verve are great. Not pretentious like radiohead,just pure class. I can't take seriously bands like radiohead who desperately want everyone to say how edgy and non commercial they are,when really they are as capitalist as all the other fuckers.

IMHO!!!!!!!!!!!!

U2 - some big anthems, but basically probably shouldn't be the biggest band in the world - bit it is middle of the road so its gonna appeal to the most idiots who stand in the middle of a road.

Coldplay - Perpetuators of the British stereotype that to be a good successful British artist these days you need to sing like ...well Thom Yorke...
however they have started writing better music/riffs/piano parts in recent times.

Radiohead - Not a fan slightly BUT they have about 8 genuinely classic singles with excellent riffs etc, its just the fact everyone wants to be them thats the biggest problem....

Am I alone in finding this melancholic falsetto doesnt even sound sad, it just sounds whiney. Far prefer voices with emotion in terms of capturing sadness....

U2 had a few tuneful songs early on in their career, before descending into shite. Radiohead and Coldplay have always been shite - the poncy public school boys.
