He was never given much backing really. They kept interfering and bringing in Denis Wise etc. How can you manage a team properly in that situation. I like KK, he's an honest man. Did a great job at City and gave us some respectability after a few difficult seasons. Good luck to him.

Apparantly he has not left according to the statement released by Newcastle Utd. I can imagine what happend was that Keegan quit, the board watched the outcry from the fans and they begged him to reconsider . The two things that baffle me are 1) why has Keegan not made a statement yet and 2) why did it take the Newcatle board til 7pm to produce a statement when this all began at 1/2 1ish????

Well now it's Curbishley that's apparently gone.

No official confirmation yet from West Ham.

Congratulations to the Toon, NUFC have now officially knocked Man City off their perch and are now reinstated as the Premiership Joke Club.

A week ago City, with their dodgy owner now broke and on the run from the law, seemed secure in their position, but for the time being they are enjoying their status as "richest club in the world", which will last until there is a coup in Abu Dhabi. This is Man City we are talking about, so something must go wrong eventually. But for the time being the Toon are the Comedy Team of the Prem. Is Tiny Tears still the manager? Has he been sacked? Has he walked out again? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?

The only surprising thing about this debacle is that some people do not seem to have thought it was inevitable. How come? You don't give KK a job without preparing for the inevitable tantrum and departure. Let's be fair, it's what he does, and the only surprise would be if he ever succeeded in a job and retired with the thanks of the Board. Never happened, never will.

I think KK's attitude is fair. If it's 'not like the brochure' to use his own analogy, and assurances and promises have been made that haven't been delivered on he has a right to be upset doesn't he. These guys have 'fuck-off' money .. what's the point of having it if you don't at some point say 'f.off!'. Curbs has done the same today hasn't he?

What's the alternative .. you're played for a mug ?

It just amazes me that some "chairman" still think they know whats best for the club. I mean Keegan and Curbs must have about 2000 games between them as managers, its just laughable. And both have had the same problem i.e players sold and not alot brought in.

But I can understand why that happens: with more and more crazy billionaires entering the game for ego trips the prices for players go way beyond the level of what they're worth for a club. So you take their money and curb your ambitions.

What is going on at Newcastle! Keegan has quit and not a word from Newcastle. Ashley has done it now, if he didn't realise how popular Keegan was before, he will soon find out! I'm not from Newcastle , not a fan of the club and it seems I know more about the area than Mike Ashley. There is no-one he can hire now that will placate them, no one is more important to those people than Keegan. Not even Shearer. Actually most Newcastle fans I speak to don't want Shearer to ever be the manager because they don't want his hero status tarnished. But as I say even Shearer isn't as popular as Keegan.

Give Wise the job and all hell will break loose!

What is also laughable is the West Ham fans emailing Sky Sports News asking for Keegan to go there as manager. Why would he go to West Ham given what happened yesterday and the reasons Curbishley gave for leaving!!!

I'm a Leeds fan but I can't think of many people I respect more than Kevin Keegan in football. He deserves better than this, much better
