Dispatches Channel 4 Monday - Lap Dancing

Post by Dave Wells »

I've just watched this fuckin awful bollocks program exposing all these clubs breaking all the stupid Victorian like rules.

I sit and watch these terrible 'NOTW' type journalistic progs and then wonder what the German or Dutch would think - thy would laugh their nuts off at our ridiculously stupid laws.

The reporter in this one was a complete TWAT.

I didn't see it myself, but a friend assures me that you are right about the reporter.

Apparently he seemed shocked at seeing a naked woman and said he
had never seen anything so explicit in his life.

At first sight, a bizarre topic and bizarre that they used Stourbridge, on the Worcs./Black Country border to make their point!

But have another look...

The lapdancing club featured was right over the road from the local sixth form- which is a bit stupid as a public relations gesture. It is a moot point that some 16-18 yo girls can and would feel threatened by the pervs out there.

But this is the leading sixth form in north Worcs.- with a quarter of the students going to Oxford or Cambridge every year and with millionaire daddies and mummies who lunch. With an assortment of solicitors, accountants, etc present as parents, something was clearly said over the dinner party table to the old mate who went to film school and now makes documentaries in London......

A bit easier to comprehend the point of the film being made now? Thought so......

Never seen the appeal of lap dancing clubs. I went to a few live sex shows back in the 80's/90's in Amsterdam and they were rubbish too.

The only live sex show that was any good was a one I went to in Hamburg in the 80's in a small club on the Reeperbahn - most clubs there are just to rip you off, but this one put on a good show at a reasonable price and threw in a couple of drinks as well. They even asked if I wanted to appear in the show as they were missing a man - I never took them up on the offer, but looking back I wish I had. I think anyone who was prepared to get naked could have had a job on the Reeperbahn in the 80's, although I suppose it's different now. I keep meaning to go back because it is a really nice city excluding the redlight district.

I thought it was funny and I normally like Dispatches.

This one was definitely the most pontless one so far. harping on about the 3 foot rule. Yeah right, what if someone got a four foot dick then?

Yes that is a silly suggestion but not as silly as a man feigning disgust at having a pretty girls bare arse in his face. Maybe in the butchers next door perhaps but you walked into the bloody place, what did you expect???? Thats what they do there.

I thought it was just an advert to promote going to these clubs. I just thought the prices were a bit expensive is all.

As for the strip club opposite the colege, well I can imagine the tutors in that school as an example of where those girls may end up if they dont achieve well in their exams. After all, its not as if teens these days are not up with what is going on is it?

It couldve been worse, it couldve been a crack den with zombies on the pipe.

Dispatches does seem to have taken a rather sanctimonious angle recently when addressing issues of personal morality. I worked on an episode last year about alcohol and the hidden dangers to the middle class social drinker of special offers at the supermarkets. Three half decent bottles of wine for a tenner was considered a bad thing. Get me down to Tescos I say.
The Lap Dancing story was dealt with in the same shock! horror! way as though getting a face full of a delightful stripper's arse was a bad thing and next to prostitution in its threat to society. Personally I've never been to such an establishment, cant afford it. I prefer the few remaining pound in a glass, walk round strip pubs, but each to his own.
