Re: Dispatches Channel 4 Monday - Lap Dancing
It was a load of rubbish from beginning to end. The tone was one of a maiden aunt circa 1897. The reporter was shocked, shocked I tell you, that in a lap dancing bar you can pay naked girls to dance for you. The very thought.
The problem seems to be that the clubs are breaking bullshit conditions to their licences put there by councils. The three foor rule indeed, what a load of crap. A lap dancing bar is a place for guys to go to have a fucking lap dance. A lap dance is where you pay a girl to dance up close to you. You are not allowed to grope the girl, but the idea that she has to stay at least three feet from the patron is absurd, and can only have been imposed by a council dweeb with a pencil up his arse. Which judging by the councillor interviewed on the programme, seems to be the case.
Still, I would imagine that takings at lap dancing clubs will be well up this week, so it wasn't all bad.

In one respect, the program had a point. And that was that the lap-dancing clubs should be regarded as part of the sex industry and licensed accordingly.
In principle, that's how it should be. If... councils would not take the not-in-our-county approach to the sex industry by not granting licenses at all or applying sky-high fees that make e.g. sex-shops not viable in many places.
Other than that I had the strong impression that C4 revelled in having a reason to shop female nudity and condemning the cause of that at the same time. In a way, the program will counteracted its purported purpose by advertising what is available despite regulations at lap-dance clubs, thus creating an expectation for the punters who would expect their local club to also go that little step further, with hands-on personal dances, not to mention prostitution in the S?par? (or whatever it's called these days).

Jonny, you proving my point, those clubs in Amsterdam and Hamburg (I'[ve probably been to same one) would laugh at such a stupid expose !

Re: Dispatches Channel 4 Monday - Lap Dancing
I was thinking that the show was a perfect example of how local councils can use this as an excuse to slap higher taxes (license, samething) on an industry and justify it via tv expose.
If thats the case we can look forward to more bunk ups with back alley sallys flashing their holes on the poles.
After seeing that show, it makes me want to go to a titty bar.

I was thinking that as well Terry. There was one for sale in Bournemouth about 6 months ago (now where did I put the details).
My point is that as usual these twatty program makers get away with making a 'Mary Whitehouse' attack on a nationally seen channel and may have given the wrong (as lame as it was) impression on the gullible idiots that would/could be influenced by making such statments (like all the dickheads on here that believed the Laura Michaels bollocks story in the NOTW).
It is a sad reflection on society that these twats can get away with making such complete and utter bollocks like this with no seeable answer ! Even the answers the clubs 'sent' out when challanged were typical lawyer bullshit. Get real and stand up to these twats and tell em to "fuck off !"

Fucking tabloid media bullshit. These people are stuck back in the dark ages. We SHOULD pity them, but we won't. Not when there's so much pussy out there that we could be having fun with.

vaguely related:
Just saw on the BBC's web site the winners of the Ig Nobel prize, and this won at economics:
"Geoffrey Miller, Joshua Tyber and Brent Jordan for discovering that the fertility cycle of a lap dancer affects her tip-earning potential."
