Did anyone see this last week on Channel 4, a programme where a Polish builder (referred to as Bobski) challenged an English builder (Bob?) to see who was the best builder? Was it any good, it looked like a fun programme.
Also, does anyone know why it is ok to refer to a Polish builder as Bobski, when if you called a middle eastern guy Omar or Abdul as a slang way of referring to him (when it's not his real name) everyone would be freaking out?
Bobski the builder...
Re: Bobski the builder...
a) Dunno, didn't see it.
b) Some people don't think they've had a good day unless they've freaked-out at something.

its amazing what editing can do to help make judgments about certain issues,as soon as i heard about this programme i knew what the result was going to be,it was all a bit one sided to me to make you feel sorry for the polish guy and to re-affirm the stereotypes.the english builder had plenty of other work while the pole seemed to be working for free which seemed a bit strange.as to both builds the design of the english build was terrible and the owner shouldn't have accepted this i mean who wants pebble dashing these days your asking for trouble.

Thanks for the comments. I might look out for it on More 4 or E4 or wherever they might repeat it. Most builders in London are now Poles, where as before they used to be mostly Irish. A lot of the Poles that arrived here have much higher qualifications which they were using back home, often a Doctor or Surveyor, and many come to the UK and do labouring on building sites or work driving a bus!
