If you were a celeb, wouldnt you Google yourself from time to time to find out what people are saying about you and surely you must be tempted to refute any comment you think is untrue.
For example if I said Amy Winehouse is shit, you would have thought there was a chance that Amy herself would come on and refute that.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Its not only celebs but tv presenters who do it and they also check out some of the forums see what people say about then and the show there on.
some companys and people in media (tv ) like producers/back ground people etc also check out places like digital spy.
