That didn't stop Reagan almost triggering WW3.

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

A well deserved win - just let's hope he can follow through with some positive actions. Just hope it isn't a false dawn, like the one New Labour gave the UK in 1997 (Things Can Only Get Better!), when they promised the earth but ultimately delivered nothing, the fascist old cunts :)

I saw this on yahoo,

Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent rather than a country,
Aides to John McCain were shocked by the gaps in the Alaska Governor's knowledge at briefings after she was announced as his running mate, according to Fox News chief political correspondent Carl Cameron.

"She didn't understand, McCain aides told me, that Africa was a continent and not a country and actually asked them if South Africa wasn't just part of the country as opposed to a country in the continent," he said on The O'Reilly Factor programme.

Mrs Palin was also unable to name the countries involved in the North American Free Trade Agreement, which was "a major campaign issue", Cameron said.

Infighting over her performance intensified after her interview with Katie Couric of CBS, for which she refused preparation, was widely criticised.

"It didn't go well," Cameron said.

"She blamed Nicole Wallace, a senior adviser who had worked for CBS with Couric and had organised some of that interview, and then the rift began to really unfold.

"That refusal of debate preparation caused some problems."

He went on: "Afterwards, Mrs Palin began to attack staff and suggest she was mishandled and communicated that to some people within the McCain campaign and outside."

Mrs Palin became a nightmare to deal with and started to throw tantrums over negative press, Cameron's sources told him.

"The way I understand it, there were times when she would be so nasty and angry to staff that they were virtually reduced to tears.

"There was throwing of paperwork and things of that nature."

McCain staff also suggested to the Fox correspondent that Mrs Palin was a "shopaholic" who bought extra clothes despite the Republican party spending a reported $150,000 on her wardrobe

So BBC....... you think that most of this country is bothered about america when most of america doesnt know or care about the rest of the world??

I expect there to be american reporters reporting on our next elections on every street corner. The country will be full up with them telling america how our elections are going..... then again they will probably get lost with palin in africa !!!!

"We" did what?
Proved to the world you can be completely conned (*again!), a-whoopin' an' a-hollerin' an' a-thinkin' that there's some kind of democratic revolution going down cos this years 'top suit' has darker skin that normal? Wake up for fucks sake, each president is a front for the big businesses that control them and is 'chosen' for his agreeability with an ever-increasingly foolish public

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

Well we never thought we'd have a black president in all of our life times even though there was a rap song out in the early 1990s that said "paint the white house black"

Yeah. What we have to remember though is look at what he's inheriting from eight years of the Bush regime. He's gonna need some time and patience form the people.

Well seeing I known and read a few books like "Behold a Pale Horse", The Trilateral Commission, and the like, I'd agree with you. I've known presidents to be picked at least to run but the people still have to vote them in. In that case you could say it wouldn't have mattered if Sen. John McCain would've won, he was picked. With that said he would still have to do his job as president to do the will of the people or his behind could be impeached.
