Amazing film from Michael Moore

Just watched an amazing film by Michael Moore on Sky called Sicko.

I believe it is still running on Sky movies so try to catch it if you can.

It is a documentary (but entertaining for all that) about the American Health Care system.

Dont want to say too much as it may spoil it, so just watch it and let it unfold, but I found some of the things jaw dropping. The corruption, the desire to "make money" out of health care rather than heal people, it makes horrifyng viewing.

The guy who cut of the tops off 2 fingers on a saw, and went to the hospital to get them sown back on, but when he was told the cost he could only afford one. He had to decide which one of the two tops he wanted sown back on. The other was thrown in the bin.

(I realise it is biased towards what he wants to say, and I am sure there are many things he chooses to leave out, but it is still worth watching for all that).

I have to say it opens up a whole debate at the "american way of life".

Some of the recent Stephen Fry TV shows where he tours the 50 states has also shown the "other side" of the USA - the poor, the unemployed, the slums.

Seems if you are white (mostly), healthy, and have a good job the USA is a great country to live in.

If you are black/mexican/ethnic, and unemployed, and unheathy, it is a terrible country to live in.

I worked for a large American company for 30 years, and visited the states half a dozen times, and found it wonderful, but of course I was staying in good hotels, eating in good restaurants, working in modern office blocks.

I never saw the "other side" of the USA, and films like "Sicko" certainly open up your eyes.

Try to watch it if you can.

I would never call Obama an air head. He is an extremely intelligent left winger, who will lead the USA further down the path towards state control of the economy, including the medical sector. Oh, and Bush is a chimp is he? How original. Now fuck off and die.
