"Achtung Baby" by U2. Drummer Larry Mullen famously said he "couldn't even pronounce the bleedin' thing" (the name) and Q Magazine described it as "the new album with the daft name". However, Q Magazine gave it 5 stars and said it was U2's best album, frontman Bono said that it "is our most serious record" and the irony that U2 were getting into with that phase of the band (and the enourmous 'Zoo TV' tour which followed) was in keeping with the concept of serious subjects coated with a veneer of irony. Hence the weirdness of the title. The album deals with very serious subjects indeed, and is regarded by many music magazines, right up to today, as one of the best rock albums ever released. It came out 17 years ago (1991) and in my opinion is in the list of the top 10 best albums of all time. Buy it, to call it brilliant is an understatement!
