Quorn

Post by Steve R »

I've mentioned this stuff - which is an excellent alternative to the soya meat substitutes, and is made from some sort of mushroom - here before, and I wonder if this has been seen, or tried, in America?

The mince can just be used in place of minced beef, in Chilli, Lasagne, Spaghetti Bolognese etc, or you can even make pretty good burgers or meatballs with it.

The chunks - described as 'chicken-style pieces', but which, to me, taste very much like human flesh - are excellent.

The fillets are like filleted chicken breasts.

Any American member tried Quorn?

I had Quorn fritters in a restaraunt, sometime earlier this year, the taste and texture was fine, the problem with all vegetarian or 'alternative' meat products (substitutes) is, you really need to eat them hot, once they go cold, you may as well be chewing a piece of shag pile carpet.

Over here in sunny Albufeira, a favourite meat alternative is a product known as Seitan, which is very versatile.
Don't know if it's available in the UK, where the most popular meat alternative was always the Rampant Rabbit!

Shock Horror .... Lizard is a Veggie!! Next he will be waxing lyrical about the pros and cons of lentils!grin!

My favourite is the new range that they have brought out just last week:
QUORN ON THE COB

has anybody tried it yet - any good??

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
