In the depths of a recession and with Britain bankrupt, Broon has now pledged to give 480 million to Pakistan.
Obviously it's borrowed money - to be paid back back with hefty interest later on by the Taxpayer.
The phrase "economic scorched earth policy" springs to mind - or maybe its a cynical election bribe designed to help NuLabour garner the Muslim vote (given that Douglas Alexander announded it at Glasgow Central Mosque, for full effect)?
Either way it stinks.
As far as I'm concerned, if a country can afford its own nuclear weapons, it doesn't need any help from Britain.
Is there no end to this government's contempt for its own people?
Beggars belief.

This by the way comes hot on the heels of this "aid package" for India (another nuclear power - this one with its own space programme)

Can someone enlighten me and tell me where is it actually borrowed from exactly because I've lost the plot here. Nobody has any money except rich twats like Gates so borrowed from where ? And we as a nation (not individuals) owe Billions to where/who exactly.
And another thing this latest twat caught in the States for ripping 'people' off for an estimated 50 billion right. Where did the money come from and where did it go exactly ?
And we all now supposedly own the banks don't we. So that tells us democracy doesn't work and communism does doesn't it surely. So were the Russians right after all ?

I hate to say it but I think that we are going to be paying for this "recesion/financial crisis" for a long time. Personally I think that the government should have put a "slush fund" to one side Just as a "goto" back up for any problems that crept up.
I am not political but doing my research over the past 50 years there is a recurring theme in the number crunching, and that is that a conservative goverment has always left "some coppers in the pot" for any future crisis, yes it was unpopular but it brought us to the stage where an "ordinary guy" could afford to buy a property securing his "inheritannce", and all Labour have done is SQUANDER the money that was in this account. The majority of the banks are now in the public sector and the government are still not "calling the shots" as they should be. For gods sake it is only common sense that when there is an interest rate cut that it gets passed onto "ourselves" the people who really need it, but no the banks would like to keep the rates at a higher rate to "claw back" as much money as they can to still appease there shareholders.
POLITICS SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When they say borrowing i think it is just another term to say they are printing more money to push into the economy, but taxes will have to go up at a later date to cover the extra money that is printed which is why we stopped adopting the gold standard because if you couldnt cover the money in gold then you couldnt print it ,and as Gordon Brown sold all our gold off cheap and squandered the money we no longer have any assets, so tax rises it is !sad!

As far I understand the government gets the money from overseas investors/governments.......they buy government bonds and with interest on top they get a very good medium/long term return, as the chance of the government going bust is not an issue (hopefully)..........
a bigger problem gordo's got is that he has already borrowed to much and sold assets off in the good times that we are ALL going to pay back this back over the next 50/60 years....
Don't forget we have only just finished paying the USA back for the second world war....lend/lease.......and that amount was far lower than we even have today !
Also NO ONE in power has mentioned about personel debt.....its as if that doesn't exist ! Thats another problem ready to burst !!!!!

Why doesn't the One Eyed Scottish retard offer the aid in euros? The fooker's short changing them with pounds - he must know the rulers won't get a very good rate when they put most of the money into their Swiss bank accounts.
