Guilbert, interesting articles there. This guy in London was definately selling ones brought normally abroad, they all had Latvian or Lithuanian writing on, had proper artwork and design, and were sealed properly. From what those articles say, it would be difficult to know even if you were buying dodgy ones in shops though. It says you would have to look to see that the artwork and design was inferior, but that was all you had to go on. If the fakers make their products identical in quality to the real thing within the next few years, and newsagents sell them over the counter, the punters will NEVER know!

They should be funded from general taxation.

I'm not so sure hospitals need to be funded to the level they are - we're keeping too many people alive far too long after their natural expiry date. It's one thing keeping alive someone who can then live a useful life - but to keep old people bed ridden, suffering dementia or wasting away of cancer/Alzheimer?s is a waste of money. As is saving people who have just abused themselves with food/drink/drugs - we'd be better going for a survival of the fittest.

Well with the exchange rate being fucking awful maybe this was a blessing in disguise as I hear the French are going to start coming over to blighty to stock up on the cheap fags and booze ... maybe Max can set up a stall in Paris!wink!

I suspect the bloke in question wasn't selling the fags that are of poor quality and greater health risk but would suggest it is the peddlers of those who max should have his real issues with.

While I am personally pleased that the tax dodger has been caught I think his issues have been caused once again by those who seek to gain from others and don't care what the cost is.

Customs etc will have been looking at him for the tax dodges but he will have come closer to their attention thanks to the peddlers of the substandard stuff.

It should also be remembered that those people who massively bulk buy to sell on and in turn make money for themselves have ruined things for those of us who used to make the occasional legal booze run.

Don't start me on the zeal of the authorities when it comes to poor bastards like me buying cheap fags. I mean there are people being stabbed and mugged everyday, but no, let's get the evil fag merchants.

Coming into Gatwick the other day, I was hauled over and searched. What were they looking for? Guns? bombs?........No cheap fags from Hungary, it's pathetic!
