The new 'Skins' series...
I watched the first episode of this tonight on E4. With the exception of Effy they have got rid of all of the previous cast, which I was aware of, except for a few supporting roles. Did anyone else see it and what did you think? I didn't think it was that good. It seems to be dominated by that pikey guy, with the tattoo, who wore the red top throughout. He is seriously irritating and I think will turn viewers away.

Never got into Skins at all. Watched the first episode as it was billed as 'from the makers of Shameless' so I presumed Paul Abbott would be involved.
Lasted 20 minutes and had to switch it off as I just wanted to punch the main character. I was assured it gets better but I figured that, aged 36, I'm probably far too old for it!

Tony, I'm a similar age to you but one can like something at any age. I often watch Hollyoaks and I realise that I am slightly outside the 14-25 age group that the show is aimed at! However I once met someone who starred in Hollyoaks and I said that I must be the show's oldest fan! She said that in actual fact about half the fanbase are people older than the age group the show was originally targeted at.
Rather like with Skins. It has the 10.00pm timeslot, is loaded with colourful language and lewd references and scenes, and therefore the fact it is aimed at a mid-teen to 20-ish age bracket can easily be forgotten. It is no differnt really to a show aimed at 20 and 30-somethings. It has the potential to be enjoyed, just like series 1 and 2 were enjoyable, but this new character, who I refer to above, is a complete dick - and doesn't even work in an ironic sort of way. He is just annoying. Bring back Tony, Michelle and Sid from the first two series' I say!

Hi, I quiet enjoyed it for being a bit 'Stupid' and I'm in my early 40's and my Girlfriend is younger and we both thought it was ok, but not as good as the other series. I did say, girls didn't look like that when I was at College. I wish they did. Interesting and good to see Father Dougle (from Father Ted) cast as the lazy irish teacher. lol

Isn't it just an excuse to sell Topshop and Topman clothes, 80s re-tread music and hair product ?
Re: The new 'Skins' series...
Completely unrealistic show. The whole cast seems to be middle class weedy looking types playing at being jack the lads. Can't get into it.
Re: The new 'Skins' series...
Yeah, that's true. To be fair, a few of my friends have watched it and recommended it, so I'll probably rent the DVDs of the first 2 series and give it another go.
I am partial to the odd Hollyoaks omnibus on a Sunday - especially if I fancy one off the wrist and am too lazy to get out of bed to get some porn hehe

Surely Skins and Hollyoaks are just mainstream equivalents of Purecfnm.com? Great if you're a straight woman or gay man, but I reckon best to be avoided if you're a straight man or lesbian.

Series 1 was very good but Series 2 was utter crap. I'm glad Effy is still around because she's very attractive in my opinion but I missed the first episode on Thursday.

The whole new series will be re-run on Channel 4 so you can watch it then.
