Meet Lily Allen on Wednesday night (everyone can)

Post by max_tranmere »

If you're a fan on Lily's, you may know that she is playing her first London gig for 2 years this Wednesday at Koko in Camden Town. It's actually located at the bottom of Camden Town - opposite Mornington Crescent tube station. Down the side of the building, on the corner of Crowndale Road and Camden Street, is a pub called The Hope And Anchor. This is literally right next to the stage door (stage door located on Crowndale Road, next to the venue's ticket booth window, and next to the wall of the pub). This is the only way in and out of the building for the stars. They have to cross that wide pavement to get to their vehicle. Lily should be finished at 10.30pm and will probably leave immediately. She is known to always stop for photographs with her fans and to sign autographs if requested. Head on down there this Wednesday and meet Lily after the gig!

Pub will be chocker with photographers, liggers, odd balls, pocket book psychologists and would-be philosophers ..... all with an axe to grind.

This made me laugh. I work with a lot of bands in the industry. Best way to always meet stars is to turn up at the backstage door around 3.30/4-pm as they will arrive for soundcheck and will have more time to meet & greet. I met my fav band this way back in 1985 and I'm still friends with them and they are playing the 02 in FEB. So, go early. Yeah and Lily is looking great these days!

Ooh, are you mates with The Cure then? (that's not meant to sound as camp as it does written down!)

It's strange that the stage door of the Koko is on a busy road like that. The venue is over 100 years old, and used to be called The Camden Palace, and you would have thought they would have designed a more secluded escape route for the stars after they have played there. On the other side of the building there is a mews which is quite difficult to get to from the front enterance, and that would be an ideal way of leaving if you had just performed. There are doors there onto that mews which are a ground floor fire escape route for the crowd, but never used as a general exit.

That mews has small businesses in it, and would be very quiet in the evenings. Ideal place for the star to leap into their chauffeur driven Mercedes and tear off into the north London night after gig. Some very big people have played at Koko in recent years - Madonna and Coldplay to name just two. Weird to think that someone standing outside the Hope and Anchor pub would see Madonna or Chris Martin walk past them to get into the car, parked with its hazard lights flashing by the curb on the main road there, and whizzing off! .

Isn't she just a 'famous' daughter of a 'famous' father? I tend to avoid these jumped-up over hyped mini stars.

On the subject of famous children of famous parents:

I was recently watching a poor movie called Fools Gold with a girl called Kate Hudson in it. I'd never seen her before, but took an instant dislike to her for no particular reason --- then later on I found out she was Goldie Hawn's daughter! The strange thing is I always detested Goldie Hawn as well :) So obviously some genetic traits shine on through. Kate Hudson isn't bad looking, she's just one of those Americans who are easy to dislike.

I went last night. I wasnt even sure if I was gonna go till just before. I was having a beer at said pub down the side of the building and I saw her arrive. She is very short! I bought a ticket off a tout about 10 mins before she took to the stage and watched the 1 hour show. Pretty good. It was finished by just after 10pm. I then returned to the pub and bought another beer. I was outside the pub having a fag when she left. There was almost a fight between some paparazzi trying to get the best spot. She crossed the pavement, to a strobe-light effect of camera flashes, and into the Mercedes that then took off. As I was in the background when she arrived and when she left, I may be in some of the photos! I will check all three London evening papers today to see if I can see myself! Lol.
