Not jealously at all. Sure, I work hard in a day job (self-employed), but I have all the material shit I need, a nice apartment and I even drive what some folk would consider a "flash car". I'm not denying that I wouldn't say 'No' to a couple of million or so (security for my old age / for a rainy day) - but who among us wouldn't?

But if I were to win 20 million on the lottery, I'd pobably end up giving most of it away to family, friends and the British Heart Foundation. I just don't fucking need that sort of money - I don't think ANYONE does, to be honest.

I thnk that I can speak for most (if not all) the contributants to this thread that we're only ranting about it because it's being force-fed to us every time we switch on the news, pick up a newspaper or log onto our PCs.

Sure, there are a lot of people who do (as you say) fan the flames of publicity - mainly those vast armies of vacuous chavettes and silly teenage schoolgirls who buy Heat magazine and all that other 'celebrity' shit, and whose sole ambition in life is to either "marry a footballer" or "be famous".

But equally, I've no doubt there are millions more out there who wish that the whole story would just go away and are equally sick to death of (and sickened by) it.

I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone - Jade Goody included. But the whole way she's conducting herself leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth.

Remember that woman who died of breast cancer just last year? Jane (can't remember her surname). Just an ordinary working mum with kids, who spent her last years doing long-distance bike rides, biathlons and such like not for herself but for cancer charities.

Of course Jade Goody might not be physically able to do those things, but if she dedicated whatever time she had left to helping others, instead of constantly bleating on about her own kids (who are already VERY handsomely provided for thanks to her own personal fortune) and selling photo-shoot rights to the likes of Okay!, she'd garner a lot more respect from a lot more people - and help a lot of other ordinary folk into the bargain.
