I'd reply to this load of bollocks but prefer to assume a few to many beers were consumed last night.

Hope your head is OK this morning !laugh!

There was an article in The Guardian (kindly be quiet) about Thatcher's involvement in tacitly supporting the Khmer Rouge; and - of course - the lies that she told about it:

Under her auspices the SAS assisted the Khmer Rouge with laying landmines, for instance.

She was however unwittingly responsible for a good song: The English Beat's 'Stand down Margaret':

Sadly missing from the dock in the long overdue trials now proceeding in Thailand of former Khmer Rouge leaders are those from the west who supported them or were responsible for the state of affairs that led to their rise to power. Kissinger fits the bill amongst others. Covert SAS involvement has long been known about, but at the time Realpolitik decreed that however loathsome the controlling power in a country, they were the legitamate government by virtue of being in charge. Besides, the KR were opposed to the Vietnamese who had recently gained control of the South of Vietnam. Support for the KR was a way of combating / punishing the Vietnamese for having the temerity to throw the US out.

'Stand Down Margaret' was but a few years into her reign of terror. By the end you had Costello's 'Tramp The Dirt Down' and Morrissey's 'Margaret On The Guillotine' to name but two.

I was watching some Penny Rimbaud stuff on Youtube and was also reminded of Crass' track 'How Does It Feel To Be The Mother Of A Thousand Dead?' The Notsensibles had a track too 'I'm In Love With Margaret Thatcher' but they clearly weren't sensible, and The Newtown Neurotics 'Kick Out The Tories' is worth a listen. Curiosly there isn't any pro Thatcher pop which springs to mind.
