The only special relationship is in the minds of politicians, going to war and supporting each other in dodgy deals - in reality it doesn't exist for the ordinary man.

How can there be a special relationship when most Americans know next to nothing about the UK, apart from Mary Poppins, Prince Charles and Afternoon Tea?

Lets face it, many Americans know precious little about the U.S either.

Our special relationship with the Americans is like that of Max Hardcore with his models. I think you know we are not Max.

Special relationship my arse.

Americans are fucking ignorant arrogant morons who think they own the world because the world owes them something for being so great.

We need to stop sucking up to them so much and when they demand something from us (such as sending our boys and girls to die in Iraq so they can get their greedy money grubbing hands on a shit load of oil) we should tell them to fuck right off.

Without Britain, America would be hard pressed to find a friend anywhere.

Er, the Americans fought for independence.

The relationship between the British govt. and the American govt. is extremely problematic, but that has no bearing on your average American or Briton. People are people: it doesn't matter where they're from, some people are horrible, some are great, and most are in between.

George w. Bush is American, but so was Martin Luther King Jr.
Margaret Thatcher is British, but so is Kelly Holmes.
