If I can pull your attention away from all things Miss Goody, lets dwell on Josef Fritzl

Here is a man who puts raping his daughter some 3000 times, fathering 7 kids, murdering opne of them and keeping his daughter holed up for over 25 years in a cellar and blames it on his cruel mother...Latest news is he has pleaded guilty to all charges.

You know he was guilty from the moment he walked into the courtroom because he hid his face the entire time. Its ironic that he has shame but committed the acts he did because of a cruel mother.

Sorry geezer, it just dont wash. You were old enough to old better, shame your life is almost over that you cant serve any real sentence to make up for the lives you ruined

Ok I dont want to discount his psychologoical trauma regarding his mum but the real point is he was old enough to know better. Old enough to know his head was fucked and by foisting this cruelty onto his own flesh and blood is just plain unforgivable.

At what point of the many times he has raped his daughter did he stop to think: "This is so very wrong! What have I done!" but he did it over 3000 times!!! Ive never had sex with the same woman that many times. I doubt he has had sex with his own wife that many times in all the years they were together and what gets me is: How did he keep that secret from her for so many years.

I can almost smell Fred and Rose West here.

How do you ever redeem yourself of this? If he has any real conscience for what he has done then his soul is going to be in hell already to the end of his days.

Best thing he should do is hang himself in a cell. Thats the only way he can dignify any of this, even though its just undignifiable now.

Im sure many people wil be quite happy to get their hands bloody on this guy but why should they? I dont agree with the death sentence but things like this make me think about it seriously and I come back to the same conclusion, why should anyone take the life of someone as abominable as this. Killing just puts you in the same class very quickly.

Like you OEJ, I find it very hard to believe that his wife had absolutely no idea what was going on.

Just because they haven't been able to pin anything on her (not yet anyway), doesn't mean that she's necessarily innocent.

Admitting to murder this morning was unexpected. There could well be more surprises to come, I feel.

And you're right, the whole thing almost defies belief. Hard to find words for it.

He is certainly one warped person and i wouldnt like to comment on what would be a fitting sentence for him, but this is a good time to remember that a few centuries ago incest was common and legal Fritzi was living in the wrong century so maybe there is a clue there to how he should be punished, burnt at the stake maybe.

To be fair, Terry- Private Eye did that last year in their Lookalikes section.

They pointed out that the way to tell Josef and Enoch apart was that:

One was a vicious, evil pervert who enjoyed degrading humanity and being supreme whilst others suffered- whilst all the time enjoyed the hypocrisy of respect from the community as an upstanding citizen.

The other is Fritzl from Austria.
