Soon we shall see the demise of the most deluded club in England. Newcastle look well down now; were totally outplayed by an average Arsenal yesterday.
No more torture of the Cult of Alan (no trophies with NUFC) Shearer, the "we are a mega club cos we get 53000 idiots a week" fans and we are only 11 signings and 5 years away from winning everything.
I love Geordie humour, their women are great, the nightlife is brilliant and the city has amazing theatres and live venues but the delusional footie fans grate like a ill fitting shoe.
The biggest pain for them will be the Mackems staying up, for another season at least.

NUFC: The club that embodies the term "delusions of grandeur".
What is it now 40 years since they last won anything (the old European Fairs Cup).

At least Boro have actually WON something in the past 4 decades (League Cup 2004).

Not strictly true Flat_Eric. You've obviously forgotten Newcastle's Intertoto cup triumph (under Glenn Roeder in 2006).

Yep, you're right. I had forgotten that one.
And it (arguably) even trumps Boro's glorious victory in the Anglo-Scottish Cup back in the mid '70s !footie!.

For what its worth I am neutral. Live Oop North and have to work/socialise with a fair smattering of Toon fans, none who could find S J Park before Keegan arrived. They openly berate Man U, Liverpool etc and bang on about how good a ground S J P is, how many shirts they sell and seriously believe Shearer is the greatest sportsman ever to walk this earth, he has achieved cult/deity status in the Newcastle area.
What is scary is how many great players came out of the North East but didn't stay with local clubs...Jackie / Bobby Charlton, Gazza, Waddle, Pallister.....all won with other clubs.
The North East clubs punch so far under their weights it is quite scary.

You have wrote a number of posts regarding Newcastle (all negative).
What's the real issue?
And this whole "deluded fans" is so 2008!
