Why does it begger belief, are Miners not allowed to be free thinkers and vote for who they think is more capable, or do you think that anyone who gets thier hands dirty for a living should always vote Labour, looking at it that way, who should a toilet cleaner vote for?

I start from the basis that any low earner who votes tory is a complete mug. And looking at the tories record on closing pits i would like that tory ex miner minister to go show his face in one of those ex mining communities. Not sure the response would be very pleasant.

I know two dinner ladies, they are low earners, they vote tory as far as I know, I would not class them as mugs. My postman is a low earner, yet I know he will be voting tory, he has told me, to call them mugs would be a real insult, they are Intelligent, and have minds of thier own, they are also entitled to vote for whoever they like.

Maybe it's you who is the mug with your stereotypical musings, still as I said in an earlier post, you needn't worry No6, Grim Gordon will prevail, he has created a big enough dependancy culture to ensure that happens.
Nu-Labour will win the next election, how could they not?

I am one of the unfortunate people who has a Tory council.

They have recently announced a few cuts:

No help for the homeless
No help for victim support
No help for women's refuge
No grants for kids summer playschemes
No jobs for apprentices
No investment in playgrounds

Apart from the homeless (although there are some families affected) all the above help what Green Dave apparently is eager to support - 'the family'.

I suspect the Conservatives will win the next election, especially with the bias media support they are getting from the likes of the BBC but when they do the shit we are currently in will be a lot deeper unless, of course, you have a sufficient amount of wealth.

BTW All the above cuts could be stopped because the council has the funds but they are "saving them for a rainy day"

Rndy andy, you know and i know that those cuts would be country wide when the tories do get in. Of course the wealthy ones in the leafy suberbs wont feel a thing, the real misry will be heaped onto the people at the sharp end.

Lizard, trust me on this one. The Tory front-bench is probably 30 or 40 strong and more than half of them ARE related to the Queen. They are not her niece or nephew but are connected by family. Aswell as that, over 50% of them have a family line of Tory ministers of yesteryear - parent, father-in-law, great uncle sat in the Lords, and so on.

You can easily arrange for someone to become a front-bencher, it has nothing to do with merit. I heard a couple of years ago that before Tony Blair got into politics, when he was working as a barrister, he wrote a reference for his friend - another newly qualified barrister called Douglas Alexander - to get a job in the legal profession.

Fast-forward a couple of decades and Blair is PM and his pal Douglas Alexander is a cabinet minister. Two men who werent even in politics then ended up as PM and Secretary of State of a large department in Government. Blair would have pulled strings to get Alexander on a short list for a safe-seat after he himself became a rising star in the Labour Party, then once his friend was an MP, Blair got him noticed within the party so when a senior position became available whilst the party was in opposition, Alexander could slip into it. He would then have become a front-bench spokeman on matters to do with a certain area of politics, then when Blair becomes PM he gives Alexander a Ministry of State.

Either that or it is one hell of a co-incidence that Blair's buddy from the days when neither were in politics becomes a top minister (and is an MP too of course) while Blair is the PM. Brown did the same with Ed Balls. Politics is all nepotism, has little to do with ability.

I actually rather hope cameron and his snotty nosed mates get in this time, that was the majority wont be that big and there is a godo chance they will be booted out in 2014,if labour get in next time the tories will def get a landslide in 2014 or 2015,and that would mean another 15 odd years of thatcherism mark 2,ex etonian style.
