It's got much worse under NuLabour though Andy, what with all their touchy-feely bollocks, their obsession with "diversity" and their constant pandering to minority groups.

In one episode of Fools & Horses, Del Boy mentions going to the P**i shop... I believe on re-runs the 'offending' word is now bleeped.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?
Re: David Jason
Yes it probably is beeped out but if you don't think it should have been then why have you not spealt the word out??
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Apparently "the only gay in the village" will be ok, seeing he's a real life woofter.
Re: David Jason
As an historical fact, WC Fields's nom-de-plume as a screenwriter was Mahatma Kane-Jeeves.
Geddit?
Personally, I thought Gerald Wiley was less offensive myself...

Re: David Jason
This, and numerous other incidents like it, lead me to believe that we are living in an age of the 'New Inquisition', where the zealots now scream 'racist' instead of 'heretic'. Some people are all too ready to accuse someone of being racist on the back of a perfectly innocent remark or joke.
I think political correctness has now served it's purpose and should be binned - people are more aware of potentially giving offence by what they say or do and the worst excesses of this type of behaviour have all but been eliminated, although I would prefer to think that we have done this ourselves because these types of 'jokes' are just not funny and we are more sophisticated now than in the days of 'The Comedians' and 'Love thy Neighbour'.
Racism has become the new Heresy and the Zealots are still here - they have always been with us and they will continue to be.

Ahhh, so I can call him a fat ugly bastard because I am one myself, but not a bummer (ooops, where do I pay the fine) because I am not ?

We have need of you again, great king.

I don't want to go back to the days where bigots like Jim Davidson told jokes about ""chalkie",thank god those days are gone.

Double standards?
If Russell Brand had said this he would have been flamed but good ol Del Boy gets mild ticking off......
Ever listen to "Soul Sounds" by Derek and Clive? Would love a modern PC review of that sketch....

I seem to recally Lenny Henry (in his early days, when he was still funny) having a similar character in his repertoire. Might even have been called "Chalkie" as well (not sure).
He'd put on what would now be called a 'stereotype' Jamaican accent / laugh, raise his right hand and shake it vigorously at the wrist as he said "ooooooooh......keeeeeeeh!!!!!"
I wonder if that would still be frowned upon, given that Henry is black himself?
