For a "joke" my wife subscribed me to the Saga magazine (for the over 50s).

In each issue they list older people who are having a "milestone" birthday.

The lists make you feel very old. The latest issue has:

Turning 80
Jeremy Thorpe (I though he was dead), Andre Previn, James Last

Turning 70
Marty Wilde, Judy Carne (Laugh in), David Frost, Lee Majors

Turning 60
Paul Gambaccini, Anita Dobdon, Jessica Lange

And even Emma Thompson ("comedy" actress) is turning 50.

I always think of the lyrics of "Time" from Dark Side of the Moon, where it says:

"And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"

Jennifer Saunders is 51-- I remember her on Channel 4's opening night aged 24. Now she has a folk musician daughter of..24.

The girl I fancied in sixth form? Has a son playing schools rugby!
