At a time of mass redundancies and when many people are expected to swallow pay freezes or even pay cuts, isn't it refreshing to see that the gravy train continues to roll on unabated for the lucky few:
That's just basic pay of course - nothing to do with all the tax-free allowances and expenses that they can claim on top.
Of course the argument / justification will be that it's "below inflation".
But surely the greedy cunts should be setting an example and voluntarily taking a pay freeze as well - especially in view of the fact that what they can claim every year just in tax-free second-home allowances is more that what a lot of ordinary workers earn (gross) in a year.

MPs pay rise from April 1st
Re: MPs pay rise from April 1st
I'll grant you that it wouldn't make a lot of difference in terms of the actual money involved - but it would be an important *symbolic* gesture in difficult economic times.
The whole system of MPs' and ministerial remuneration is corrupt and rotten to the core. A pay freeze for politicians would be an important first step towards reorganising it all and restoring public faith (and let's face it - it really needs some restoring).
As laughable as it sounds, they're supposed to work for and be accountable to YOU (i.e. the voter), remember!

Why can't we replace them with Poles? MP's keep telling us that Poles and East Europeans are cheaper, more cost effective and more efficient.

Lets see, This wouldn't be the same whiter than white shower who have been castigating all and sundry in the banking system for collecting bonuses for poor performance and creating 'toxic' debts.
You just couldn't make this stuff up.......I shall go and watch V for Vendetta again.
