Just recently I sold some unwanted stuff on eBay.de for a total of just over 82 Euros.
I've now just received a bill from them for a few Cents shy of 12 Euros.
That's like 14% of what I made on the sales. Fourteen percent!!! Up the fucking wazoo!!
And if I'd been selling on eBay.co.uk it's have been even more (probably somewhere up around 20%), because as a seller on there you're forced to use PayPal (compulsory PayPal hasn't yet been imposed on eBay.de).
I won't be selling on eBay again - it's just not fucking worth the hassle (once you've pissed around with all the packing, driving to the Post Office etc.).
I also think that it's high time someone put a stop to these profiteering cunts by setting up a high-profile, viable and (most importantly) *cheaper* competitor that people will go for (where's Richard Branson when you need him). Because basically, these twats have been allowed to corner the online auction market with no effective opposition.
Time was when eBay used to be place to shed your unwanted crap cheaply and to pick up a bargain. Not any more.

Re: The great eBay rip-off
theres loads of auction sites around, just not as well known as ebay.
Re: The great eBay rip-off
I've not used Ebay for over five years now, since I disputed a ?5 surcharge they slapped on because I owed them for a 15p listing fee (my paypal account had gone tits up for some unknown reason). They locked my account and to be honest now I don't miss it at all.
There are plenty of local *free ads sites for getting rid of your old crap, or even local Freecycle groups (well here in the UK at least).
