Paedo Priest documentary on More4 last night...

Post by max_tranmere »

Did anyone else watch this last night, it was very disturbing. There are so many paedo Priests in the Catholic church that it is almost weird if you are NOT a paedo if you are a Catholic Priest, not the other way around. There have been so many cover ups and the guy who is the present Pope spent 20 years covering all this up in his last position, prior to becoming the Pope.

Catholic Priests abusing children has been rife in the Catholic church since at least the 4th century, and the Catholic church in America has coughed up of $1 billion in compensation during recent years, and that is thought to be the tip of the iceberg. One example focused on last night was about this sick bastard Priest in California, who abused over 100 children, and all the Bishop did was move him to another location, 50 miles away, to prevent a scandal breaking in the news. A deal was done with the victim's families, they were asked not to press charges and in return the Bishop said he would guarentee this Priest would never come into contact with kids again.

The sicko was moved to a normal Parish instead, full of families with kids, and he kept abusing. He eventually served 6 years of a 12 year sentence before being thrown out of America and sent to Ireland, which is where he grew up. He is looking forward to a nice pension from the Church when he is 65 aswell. Many examples were given in this programme about Bishops, Arch-Bishops, and Popes over the years turning a blind eye to all this and covering it up. A report is about to be published in Ireland into sexual abuse of children by Catholic Priest's there, and their Arch-Bishop recently said the results will 'shock' people. It is so commonplace.

Because being gay, or being straight for that matter (celibacy is compulsory for all of these Priests), it said on the programme that being a paedo is no differnt really, as far as senior figures in the Catholic church are concerned because it is all condemned by god and also whatever happens happens because of god's will so the senior figures don't get involved for that reason aswell. As far as I am concerned vast numbers of people who are Priests, and more senior figures too, within the Catholic church are sick f**kers who should be publicly hanged! Anyone who goes near a child should have a rope put round his neck and hanged in the town square! I would happily watch!

Isn't it all terrible?!! It basically confirms that the Catholic church is not a church really but a sesspit of vile people who are so happy to do things so un-godlike every day, that they are not believers in the first place because they would be aware that what they interpret to be god would be bound to know (as 'he' can read your thoughts and knows what you are about) so they are not clergy at all, but fraudsters! Hang the bastards! Did anyone else watch this programme on More 4, and what do you think about it all, and about what I have said here?

Another thing discussed on the programme last night was the reason why there is a demand for celibacy amongst Priests. It pointed out that many people are of the view that it is written in the scriptures, but it is not. Professors in theology were saying on the programme that at least 11 of the 12 Apostles were married and that all the early Popes were married too. It said celibacy was encouraged as the years went on as many of these early figures were rich and when they died left all their money and belongings to their wife and kids. They said that if the Catholic Church could convince people to remain celibate then these people would have no one to leave their money and belongings to when they died and therefore it would be more likely they would leave it to the Catholic Church instead. As the years went on celibacy went from being something that was preferred by the senior figures, to something that was compulsory. So there you have it. Priests and senior clergy have to be celibate so the catholic church can get rich. You couldn't make this up...

I believe it was St. Augustine [who is on record as a self-avowed
misogynist] that insisted on celibate priests.
So, once more we seem to have the particular, warped, viewpoint
of an individual being promulgated as God's will.
Sound familiar?

The most appalling aspect of Catholicism [amongst admittedly very
stiff competition] is the grinding poverty that most believers live
in; the sight of a destitute mother in the barrios scraping
together a few coins to help pay for the fantastically byzantine
lifestyle of those in the Vatican makes me retch. If all the Catholic-
owned property and lands [and for that matter those of the C of E]
were sold off it'd do a great deal to relieve such misery. But
these hypocrites obviously believe that charity begins at home.

Elton, that Father Ted clip is excellent! Father Ted caused a lot of controversy in Ireland and was suddenly taken off the air. It was said to be blasphemous and was offensive to the Catholic Church. When you consider the things we've discussed here, I think a comedy that lightly mocks them would be the least of the Catholic Church's worries!!

Agreed Max, But the clip I was looking for was closer to the bone. I was trying to find the clip of Father Finton Stack who takes over from Jack the episode 'New Jack City' he enters the main Father Ted set to find Ted and a few other Priests watching a sports day video.

Quote

Father Fintan Stack: [talking about the sports video] Young boys running round in shorts. I bet you like that, don't you.
[to father Michael]
Father Fintan Stack: And you, only you're thinking of what they'd look like without the shorts. You're sitting there, imagining that, with a huge smile on your face.
Father Billy Kerrigan: I must say, I think you're a very rude man
Father Fintan Stack: If you say that to me again... I'll put your head through the wall.

Spot on the Catholic Church's worries.

Now if they'd combined the two into a snowball-fight betwen Abu
Hamza and Ayatollah Khamenei, I might have watched.

True, there is nothing in the Bible to the effect that the clergy must be celibate, it is a convention which grew up hundreds of years after Christ died. Indeed, it is largely confined to Catholicism; most of the other Christian denominations from that time, such as the Orthodox Chrurches, Copts etc either do not enforce celibacy on the priesthood, or only insist on it for bishops.

I recall seeing a documentary about this once; a Jew was saying that, since historically the Rabbi was the most educated man in the community, Jewish practice had always been that he should marry and have as many kids as possible. He couldn't understand the Catholic doctrine of finding bright, religious men, training them at great length, and then forbidding them from reproducing. Not a bad point really.
