What's wrong with making documentaries on radical Islamic clerics? Are you saying one religion, or group, should be more protected from scrutiny and criticism than another?
Imagine having a satirical show, mocking Islam like Father Ted does with Catholicism.

The proscription or restriction of sex means that the energy that
otherwise would devoted to it can be transferred to a more 'worthy'
area, i.e. worship and fanaticism.
I think this was part of Orwell's point in '1984', with its 'Anti-Sex
League'.

jj, its weird because every post-pubescent (in other words every person alive over the age of 11 or 12) is sexually charged so the urges don't go away. Everyone is either straight, gay, bi, or (in extremely evil cases) a paedo. The implication with Catholic Priests, public school housemasters, and so on, is that they are not anything. They are thought of as living their lives never considering any of those things but as they are all post-pubescent then of course they are sexually charged in one direction or another and therefore will have sexual urges.
So the eternally single Priests will have a roving eye, public school housemasters too, and many will go further. The solution is to either neutor all of them or have them have relationships. Always view sometime who falls into one of these two catagories as potentially dodgy, if they are in a largely shut-off environment. I know someone who went to a boarding school and he was saying that the eternally single housemasters there were all dodgy - none of them ever saw a member of the opposite sex, ever! The school was in a very rural setting, there were no female teachers, no women worked for the school and none of the housemasters or live-in teachers were married.
All of them were not only in that environment 24/7, but relished it. They never talked about women, never left the premises to drive to a town 20 miles away to try and meet women or anything. Now bearing in mind the housemasters were all post-pubescent (obviously) they could have been nothing other than at the very least gay, but most likely paedo's. They saw about 20 adult males regularly and hundreds and hundreds of boys all the time. Most of them were paedo's, and were gradually all sacked for paedo activity in the school.
He told me that the school, after having scandal after scandal, is now co-ed and all the live-in teachers have to be married or they wont get the job. It's appaling that innocent kids had to be surrounded by sick fuckers like that!

It's the fear of sex because it liberates a society. If you can get people to feel ashamed then they are generally more submissive and thus easier to control.
The three Abrahamic faiths are all about making one as ashamed as possible. They're about how unworthy you are. How we are all born sinners and commanded to be well. How you should be ashamed of showing our body, or having certain thoughts; ashamed for eating certain foods or being born with too much skin around your bell-end...........you know....the really important stuff!

I had a cousin, maybe I still do if he's not dead, who was abused by a CoE vicar in the 60s - but the thing is, he liked it!

I'm not as jejune as you seem to be about it- there's something
rather uplifting about renouncing sex as one's personal gift to God-
AS LONG AS IT'S VOLUNTARY.
But I wholly agree that, as the most powerful drive we have, it's
thoroughly mischievous to bugger about with it, if you'll excuse the
rather unfortunate choice of phrase. If God invented sex, I can't
see there's any valid reason to ban it for certain groups.
It's also a monstrous calumny to tar all RC priests with the same
brush- despite all the hoo-ha this is still a minority, and it must
be hard for those dedicated clergy who manage to keep their vows
to see the church brought into such disrepute by their weaker
brethren- but unlike the leaders of same, I do not see forgiveness
of human frailty as justifying a cover-up.

Cof E priests who cross over are allowed to remain married.Catholic Priests despite their religeon are humn and have aches in their pants.Alas so do youngsters who will either enjoy the attention or be too timid to speak out.Hopefully any priest nowadays that fiddles with kids will know that society will take a dim view and there are many stories of youngsters who grew up and spilt the beans.I despise religeon for it's conjurery but the church wil be around for a few centuries after I'm growing under daisies. The present pope seems a poor choice compred to John Paul who despite everything was obviously a good man.
