i don't think non-consent is the right argument. otherwise, isn't the implication that people shouldn't be allowed to have pets? i.e. train them, cage them, neuter them, selectively breed them - let alone murder them, eat them, etc?

isn't relating consent solely to sexual relations with animals, an act of anthropomorphization on our part? after all, the average lion isn't overly concerned with the niceties of courtship when he decides to 'cover' one of the lioness' in his pride.

Thats a good point Woody. I will have to consider that in depth before replying. Perhaps it is just that anyone who owns a pet feels disgusted at the breach of trust. Animals trust their owners and to fuck them seems to me to be a breach of that trust. Its also unique to humans to have sex with another species. You will never see a horse mount a cow for example.

Perhaps humans are just pervy in general.

I am off to walk my violent dog. Then to the pub for refreshments.

Apology.

Re: My posting above. Apologies for my rather unsubtle suggestions, RC, I simply read and digested your thread starter and jumped to a conclusion. Most unlike me.

Think nothing of it. Post was a quote from the RAME Newsgroup - one Steve Lewis.

'Any video portraying an act that is illegal in itself (Beastitality - Sexual Offences Act 1957 S8)will never be certified here '

erm... I think you are too simplistic and ... wrong.

'Executions' cert 18 video shows capital punishment in other countries- the killing of people by the state. This is illegal in this country (under the human rights act as well).

We still do have the death penalty i.e. capital punishment in the UK. Its never used but there is still a working gallows at one of the HMPs (Wandsworth I think). In theory a person could still be hanged if convicted of treason, piracy on the high seas, or arson in Her Majestys dockyards.

Of course this would never happen but the screws still test the gallows from time to time.

Now wheres me lighter? I`m off to Plymouth.
