The police are in a bit of a dilemma today with the Tamil protestors outside parliament. They daren't move them on even though it's illegal to demonstrate in the vicinity of parliament. They're scared stiff of negative publicity - and seeing the protestors aren't white, it's creating an even bigger headache for them. Usual mouthpieces, like Keith Vaz, are applauding the police's conduct - yeah, it's great because they're giving them special treatment because they're an ethnic minority. The Tamils are purposely bringing children with them to stop the police getting rough - it'll be interesting to see how far the Tamils can push the police, and close down the whole area, before the police are forced into action - then the same mouthpieces will start crying police violence, racism and other rubbish.
What's happening in Sri Lanka may be bad, but it's not our problem - they wanted us out as the colonial master, but now they want us to help them. Go away, Sri Lanka is too far away for most British people to care that much what happens - and in any case it's a civil war that will eventually sort itself out, once one side is defeated.
