I've just had the chance to look at these proposals properly.
So basically, all that the central pillar of Grim Gordon's grand scheme amounts to is scrapping the "second homes allowance" and replacing it with a "turning-up-for-work allowance" of roughly the same amount - still payable IN ADDITION TO (not instead of) the basic MP's salary of 64 grand.
And it seems to me that the rest of the proposals are just tinkering round the edges of a corrupt system.
Does Gordon really think that the British electorate are collectively so stupid that they'll be fooled by this?
Like I said - cosmetic change only. And bad cosmetics at that.
Gordon's taking the piss, and the electorate is being taken for mugs.
