Decades after independence, almost the entire continent's population remains mired in poverty, average life expectancy in many countries is under 40, and millions die every year from malaria, aids, malnutrition etc. etc.

Why? Because hardly any of the cash goes to where it's supposed to, and instead ends up in the Swiss bank accounts of assorted despots and their cronies, who use it to buy fleets of luxury cars and build palace after palace for themselves and their 26 wives.

Such is the folly of "foreign aid". But seemingly our illustrious leaders will themselves never learn.
