Another 'made up' story. Presumably whoever printed or aired the piece with Harry Harris asked him if he was sure about the story and/or sure about his sources and Harry Harris would have said 'Yes'.

Either there was a meeting which couldn't be proven or Harry Harris is a mischevious liar. Either way more public money leaves the BBC which was entirely avoidable.

Remembering Harris' form with Terry Venables at the Mirror, I'd go for the liar angle. This guy has previous.

Harry Harris has had several good scoops over the years, but his fair share of wrong stories as well. Roy Keane relacing Avram Grant at Chelsea was a recent error of his.

It looks as though someone fed him this story about Zola and Clarke and he decided to believe his source and run with it. It's unlikely to say the least that Harris made the story up, but he clearly doesn't have the good contacts at Chelsea that he thinks he has. Not only was he wrong about Roy Keane, but at the time he completely dismissed Scolari as a contender for the Chelsea job.
