Footballers are paid what footballers are worth - far too much maybe, but it's a commercial supply/demand/skills thing. Now if footballers went out of their way to hide their mega-salary that would be a different kettle of fish altogether. MP's making out they're 'only' on 63K whilst claiming tax-free expenses to the tune of that salary again is sneaky and dishonest. It's all a part of the "we're just working people like you" lie they love to perpetuate. The reason they don't want to cop for a ?120K is income tax - you know, that thing the force upon others!

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

They're all so put out at being caught with their collective trousers down and that everyone can see them for what they are.
Unfortunately as stated by Jonone, there is a fundamental intellectual dishonesty about almost everything we believe is the fabric of our society that bleeds down, and it is far too late to worry about the lower classes - they see the 'top people' bleeding things dry and see nothing wrong with themselves doing the same. For this whole sorry mess to be sorted (society that is) would mean stripping everything back to the bare bones, this is never going to happen.

The trouble with that idea is that you won't get MP's.

The rest of the funding for their constituency

The trouble with that is you will get the rich party dominating.

Couldn't agree more but word of caution it won't and probably can't be the cheap option most envisage.

The trouble with logging in is that it doesn't take into account work done as an MP but outside the house of commons.

Say for example you're the MP for Barrow to get to London to work takes hours.

On your way to HOC you do work, you've no choice but under the scheme you suggest you wouldn't be paid for it because you've not clocked in.

The other thing about the HOC is that being there just for the sake of being there "to clock in" usually returns poor MP's who have no knowledge other than that read from books while sat on some benches.

With regards to 30K most could live of it but very few would do it, take the sh*t that goes with it and that doesn't include the hours or the travelling.

I hope of you managed to watch the simply brilliant HIGNFY tonight. One of the best ever in my opinion. Hislop, Merton, guests and the superb Rolf Harris ripping the greedy bastards to shreds. Many classic lines such as 'House Of Frauds' & House Of Common Criminals ! Brilliant, brilliant programme !

Can't wait to see the longer uncensored version tomorrow.

Well, being called a camp liberal is much better than being labelled a Nazi so I guess I should consider myself lucky!
