Did you read the article fully or just the headline?

The US view: "When asked whether the US would be prepared to fight if war broke out between South and North Korea, General George Casey said: "The short answer is yes."

The North Korea view: "North Korea warned it might attack its neighbour after South Korea announced it was joining a US-led campaign to stop the trade in weapons of mass destruction."

The USA is just putting it out that they can handle another conflict. It's North Korea that's threatening war.

We DO get the message, Reggie: You hate America. America is bad, Osama, the Mad Mullahs in Tehran and Kim Jong Il are nice guys really (just "misunderstood"), and 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'.

But ask yourself this: Where does it say that the USA is going to invade anyone, as you're claiming?

Here's a reality check for you: It's North Korea that's been detonating nukes and conducting missile tests.

It's North Korea that's said that it's tearing up the 1953 Armistice agreement.

It's North Korea that's said that it will regard UN sanctions as a "declaration of war".

It's North Korea that's said it might invade the South.

The Americans on the other hand have said that they're not sending any additional forces to South Korea yet. All they're saying is that they would be prepared to fight if they had to.

Nothing about marching into North Korea. Nothing about bombing them back to the stone age.

But why let the facts get in the way of a good old anti-American rant eh?!

You make some good points, Reggie, and I agree that North Korea doesn't look too healthy and may implode, as you say.

Where I disagreed was you saying it was the USA that was going to 'kick off' the war, and then giving us a link to an article where the only people threatening war was North Korea.

Flippant you may have been but it was still inaccurate.

Fuck the UN. It's more corrupt than the Italian Football Association these days. The anti-blasphemy laws they want member states to adopt is a real poke in the eye for freedom of speech and expression. The UN are fast becoming puppets for Pakistan and other Muslim states who want to dictate to other nations what they can say about religion (mainly Islam). Funnily enough the UN don't seem too as concerned about getting other member states, Saudi Arabia being one, that still hasn't signed up to the universal declaration of human rights.

It seems that your favourite nation in the Universe, the Netherlands, has been all to happy to fall into line.

Not really a good comparison, Reggie.

East Germany was nothing more than a Soviet satellite state, and essentially just towed the line dictated by Moscow. Neither was it going around setting off nukes and test firing missiles in the direction of its near neighbours.

North Korea on the other hand is an isolationist, militaristic rogue state run by a paranoid dictator - the son of the bloke who made a previous attempt to invade and conquer South Korea, remember.

You also have to remember that rapprocement is a two-way street. Obama can make all the overtures in the world (and indeed the Americans have tried that approach many times in recent years, even under George Dubya), but if the Dear Leader and his cronies simply aren't interested (and it's clear that they aren't), it's a non starter.

Oh err the plot thickens could "flippant" remarks lead to WW3 or can Reggie somehow be demoted from power by the very grand Sam Slater of Slatersville ... tune in next week for your next episode of the Simpsons where Madge gives Reggie a look at her well concealed weapons of mass destruction ... how will Reggie react to this new threat??

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

On a serious note here Reggie:
"The fact that N. Korea has developed a basic fission device does not mean it has weaponry which it can deliver and firing a few rockets just creates the illusion that it can."

Now to me you seem very sure of this quote but of course it is VERY easy to be clever and smart when it isn't your loved ones who are in the firing line - now you put yourself in the situation of say somebody like Germany who start firing a couple of friendly shots over and to the direction of say France or lets say the UK you know just to test a few things ... now Reggie how would you feel in this situation?? Or are you going by the realism that "We" are not in immediate danger let those that are deal with it??
