I?m a middle aged bloke who realises that unless I win the lottery I will never get a chance to couple with any beautiful young woman again. I watch porn and try to put myself in the place of the male performer and have to be content with that.
I have met and worked with gay men and I?ve usually found them to be very helpful but I?ve also been quick to point out that I don?t have any inclinations that way.
Saying that I have no desire to socialise with them (a thought I?m sure many of them will feel about me). To me porn is about watching the girls and the men are incidental. I?m always surprised how quickly some people react whenever they feel a slur has been brought upon a ?gay? person or when some other word is used to describe a homosexual man or worse ---- a person of colour.
Political correctness has gone out of control and now words I have used all my life are taboo but that does not make me racist or homophobic.
Why should I have to change the way I speak, using words which have been in the dictionary for years, because the homosexual/coloured community might feel offended.
I?ve had jobs where my superior has been coloured and I got the feeling that I was getting stick because of things my ancestors had done and it was now payback time.
History is history and it?s in the past and that?s something I can?t change.
Things that happened before I was born were out of my control so why should I be made to feel guilty?
Definately not gay bashing
Re: Definately not gay bashing
I'd hate to upset your self righteous apple cart but what gives you the right to tell me to change my way of thinking ?
As to the part about my black boss being smarter --- he certainly was to the extent he played his race card every time to the extent we weren't playing on a level playing field and the company didn't have the balls to stand up to him.
Could you kindly inform me of the correct term to use to describe somebody who is not white which is guaranteed not to upset anybody.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Stop it, you're going to make me cry.

I know gays that can be real bitches too. I think you'll find that there are nice gays, and cuntish gays, just like 'normal' people! Funny that.

I agree. Using a name like 'bender' or 'coloured' doesn't make you homophobic or racist. It DOES make you impolite. For instance: if you know the acceptable term for a black man is 'black man' then referring to him as 'coloured' is impolite unless he states that he prefers to be called coloured. If I meet a woman who I know is called Janet Smith, I'll call her Miss Smith until she asks me to call her Janet. You don't have a problem with this, do you?

Maybe he didn't like white people. The colour of your skin doesn't omit you from being prejudiced, after all. However, now knowing your thoughts surrounding 'coloureds' and gays then maybe he got certain vibes from you that made him act differently in your presence - or maybe you're just paranoid because you're uncomfortable around anyone who isn't white and straight.

Re: Definately not gay bashing
Lots of words have been in the dictionary for years, but anyone with a scintilla of awareness will know that such words have such a power to oppress and belittle, that we really should be happy to see their passing from common parlance.
Re: Definately not gay bashing
This is utter crap in so many ways, that I don't even know
where to begin.
where to begin.

'Afro-American' or 'Afro-Caribbean' are the accepted terms,
as I understand it.

All good sense, IMHO; although I think you may have 'picked up
the ball and run' a bit with that last para.
I'm 50 and find it sometimes very hard to dislodge the ingrained
prejudices I inherited. One does one's best, but one sometimes
fails.

Well, yes; I certainly miss 'gay', as a word for a prettily-coloured
child's balloon, or a happy gathering of friends.....
The trouble with state- or socially-imposed censorship is, it's
always the thin end of the wedge.
Remember Newspeak; and shudder.
