We've had the death-penalty since the 1300s and I can't find
any evidence violent crime has ever been mitigated thereby.
In fact, VC was much more prevalent during the mid-1770s,
when they had Transportation as an alternative to the gallows;
maybe that's the way to go?
But, of course, the early Georgian Kings used to hang seven-
year-olds.....

And against people whose main belief is that insane violence
will immediately tranlate them to Heaven, what point would
there be?

I think I could see my way to pushing the button to end the lives of these two animals. I don't regard them as human. As it is I think they'll have a great time on the inside, running drug and protection rackets and threatening violence to other criminals and warders.

My concern with this sentence is that in 12-17 years time, a "do gooder" in power at the time, will allow parole for these...... they will NOT serve the full term..... they may come out and cost the tax payer thousands of pounds "monitoring" them..

I cannot even imagine what the victims family are feeling...it will destroy there lifes but these two will be allowed to carry theres on.....thats not justice!

!furious!

You reckon Johnny? Did they look like a pair of 'Mr Bigs' to you? Didn't to me. Surely if they were capable of such an enterprise that capability would have expressed itself on the 'out'. As it was they were a couple of junkies and finding the next fix tends to sap the entrepreneurial spirit.

... and of course, if subsequent evidence proved them to have
been innocent, I'm sure you'd nip round the widows' places,
go 'whoops, my bad', and have a good laugh together over a
nice cup of tea.

Yes, and saving the taxpayer about 30K for their annual incarceration
and the uncounted 100Ks repairing the damage inflicted when they
almost inevitably reoffend after release.
Life without hope of parole is to me crueller than a bullet; in a
supposedly civilised society we should assume all individuals have
a second chance, and give these guys a simple choice: either try
and reform [and, oh boy, WILL we be checking up on you with that....
unlike the current system]- or a simple nine grams.

As the Spanish dicho says: "take what you want..... then PAY
for it" : -)

As if they're innocent - and in any case their previous form would make the death sentence justifiable on it's own.

With my admittedly poor understanding of the British judicial
system: I'd always fondly hopeed that one was presumed innocent
until PROVEN guilty.
And the payoff is that you'd hope for the same were you ever
in the same position.

Nah, fuck it; let's just hang the bastard anyway; he's obviously
guilty.

They must be guilty. Those pictures say it all. They are not ver nice looking and look like evil incarnate, especially the one on the left. I bet he made the one on the right do it. Such anger and hatred in his face

Hang em! Hang em HIGH!

Seriously though those two have done something unforgivable and deserve punishment where they should be reminded that they have denied others life on this planet and should live the rest of their lives knowing what they did is unacceptable by human standards.

Hanging is too good for them. Lock em up and they will die inside slowly in a lifetime being denied of their freedom. personally I thionk they were dead already doing the crime they did.

The only way they can redeem themselves is by showing some remorse and making good on that somehow, teach others what they have done is wrong and hopefully get others to not follow in their path but their souls will always be tainted with the lives they have snuffed out. thats if they even have a soul after doing a crime like that.

Maybe Jonny should be hung well?

Only kidding, Jonny. I don't know about you but I'm not comfortable any state that uses death as a punishment.
