Not liking the French and dancing in the streets if they were invaded by a foreign power are not at the same point on the spectrum of hate, Reggie.
The French and English just annoy each other these days. I wouldn't call it hate.
No matter how much oil was an influence in going to war with Saddam, he annexed a recognised sovereign nation. Kuwait didn't. Nor did they gas their own people by the thousands despite their political system.

Re: About bloody time!
Right to protest? for those people who'd sooner cut your head off and stick it on a pole if you were in their country (i say their as theyve no doubt never been there),
Jesus christ i'm so tired of hearing about peoples 'rights' what about my right to have them fucked off to the outerlimits of their prehistoric beliefs and they can jump around all they want in the middle of the desert somewhere, what about the rights of every decent person in this country of all race/colour/creed and religion not to have soft nosed twats constantly championing the human rights cause of ultra right/left/religious wing groups.
Human rights were created in the 50's in the vain hope that the likes of Adolf hitler and his regime should never be allowed to come to power again and rightly so. They were never intended to become such a focal point for every single individual to abuse for their own purpose and often monetary gain.
So no screw their 'rights' i don't care if this offends those who think its everyones right to do as they please all the time anywhere they like.
the freedom of speech is a false belief, it doesnt exist. if it did anyone could say anything they liked about anyone without fear of prosecution. so to give these people that so called freedom only serves to undermine further the normal decent person.
A great man once said if the rights of the individual outweigh the rights of society then all you have left is anarchy'
So if you want to live in an anarchistic state fine go and moan about how we live in a police state (which is total shit by the way try living somewhere that really does have one then complain) and then when someone walks in and rapes your mother, kills your child then may you reap the rewards, because sure its their right isn't it?
aarrrgggh.
ps good for the moderate muslims if i was wearing a hat i'd take it off to them.

So what? Are you saying that because they might act like animals, given the chance, we should too?

Some people will always abuse systems and break rules. That doesn't mean those systems and rules are wrong. You just never hear about when things go well as it's not newsworthy.

I don't agree with you here but I'm glad you're exorcizing those rights to complain. I'm defending your right to disagree with me. Without human rights you might not be so lucky.

Well, there are limits, sure, but compared to a lot of other nations on this planet our speech is pretty much free. I suppose you could call it 'speech on a long leash' but I don't think it's catchy enough.
if the rights of the individual outweigh the rights of society then all you have left is anarchy
Who said this? Lots of great men/women say ill-thought out things from time to time. I'm guessing it was a great who came from a society that didn't have much in the name of 'rights'. Ancient Greece by chance? Plato spoke about anarchy a lot so if I had to hazard a guess.....
Anyway, to the reason why a disagree with this - well, it's obvious isn't it? An anarchistic society would end up with no rights at all because there'd be no authority to uphold them.
I was talking about a persons right to protest. Hardly the seeds for total anarchy.

Lol. I don't think there's a 'right to rape and murder' in any Western democracy I know of, do you? I just think that you didn't like those Muslims protesting because they expressed an opinion different to yours. I too felt angry at them, but I was angry at their views, not their right to express them.

Re: About bloody time!
No the point i'm trying to make is that people abuse their 'rights' all the time, of course i don't suggest we sink to their levels but nonetheless a stand has to be made.
We are mad if we think that by allowing people to express their vile opinions and to let them encourage violence against our society that this somehow makes us the better people, no it doesn't all it does is simply strengthen in their mind our own weakness.
If someone stuck a knife in you and you never bothered to fight back because violence is wrong yadda yadda yadda would you die thinking o how fabulous i'm the morally stronger person here isn't that nice.
But if we are to regain a strong society then thats exactly what we need to demonstrate, strenght. the irony in all this is that i actually do think our own society and culture has deteriorated so much that bizzarely i can't help but understand how these extremists have come to their conclusion although i believe their actions relating to that conclusion are wrong.
Being a 'soft' society over the past 30 years has clearly not worked and we are not any better off or more civilised as a result, besides the definiton of civilisation changes on a whim anyway, as ineed you mentioned the Greeks, considered civilised in their time.
Nor am I trying to portray a country of jackbooted nazis would be a better idea merely that a balance has to be re-addressed, too much pandering to the individual has upset what is right for decent people as a whole.
Where people have gone out of their way to attack our society be it through words or physical action we should be firstly able to and secondly actually do so, defend it vigorously and not through just our own self praise at aren't we the better for allowing the wee dears their opinion.
People should fear our law not tread about it as though it were something to mock and abuse which in its current state it is exactly that.
