How can this be right?
3 years and 3 months is the maximum sentence possible for stabbing someone in the eye with a knife! As far as I'm concerned it's attempted murder - and disfiguring someone for life deserves about 15 years. The moron who perpetrated this crime had 140 previous convictions - he should be locked away for life, on the grounds he's a mentally unstable and a clear danger to others.
You've got to hope someone knifes him to death on the inside - that would be poetic justice.

I agree that that the punishment is insufficient for such a crime, Jonny, especially with the record this man has.
However, the article CLEARLY, CLEARLY, CLEARLY says MINIMUM. NOT maximum.
At least read the bloody article if you want to make a point!

Its people like this scum who should be locked up forever. Violent people and paedophiles are what prisons are for. Other penalties should be in place for other crimes.

Re: How can this be right?
I know it's a minimum - but the way our justice system works it'll also be the maximum as well.
Re: How can this be right?
Thing is though if you look at how the jail system works - he would say get 10 years as a sentence, cut that to 5 for the whole good behaviour thing - he'd probably get out at 3 and a half on license - so the judge ordering him to serve a minimum of 3yrs and 3 months is actually more realistic than you think.
