jj, I don't think so. I cant believe someone would join a general chat forum that is listed third on the forums list. This is actually a porn database first, then a porn forum, then a porn promotions forum, THEN an off-topic forum. People go through all those then later hit upon the O/T forum. This forum has lots of images of sex around it as you type aswell. So this is a porn place, and as an add-on it has an off-topic forum.

Well, after 15 years I find that people who gravitate here from
the Big Forum tend to do so for simple 'chat' reasons. IMO
the others are too full of adverts and that pisses-off people
who don't wish to see that.
The mods should be able to provide supporting stats., but off-hand
S56 posts here 20x more often than on the BF.

What? So it's not the content of the exchanges between people but the medium used to convey those exchanges? You started off by criticising the content, not the ways in which we decide to communicate.

For a start, if I wanted to tell someone what I've had for dinner then surely a single facebook update is far easier that 100 phone calls to different people. And what of friends and family abroad? Due to my lack of experience with facebook I think I didn't do it justice when defending how people use it. Obviously it is used in different ways by different people and thus the importance/banality of content varies from profile to profile.

I'm with you on that but learning what gets Max a hard-on is just as pointless to me as what Mr. X is having for lunch on facebook. That's the point I'm trying to get Max to understand as he seems incapable of seeing anything from another's point of view.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

The one good thing I know about it was that it helped recently in
the 'Green revolution'.
