best email host company/advice needed

Post by Bodi »

Hi

I currently use reg-123.co.uk to host an email address which i have, it's a separate address to what i use for adult modeling.

It is a POP account.

I rarely seem to receive activation emails when i sign up to other websites and/or forums.

I have the spam filter set at 1 which is the lowest level.

Is 123 the best company to use, any other recommendations?

Also can anyone offer advice if it maybe a simply problem of the email account not set up correctly and how i need to set it.

I have approached 123-reg about this but didn't get an answer.

Thanks.

Hi Martin

A "Survey" with a sample size of one is always dangerous but:

http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/internet-sites/ ... k/1029340/

Product: 123-reg.co.uk
Date: 30/05/06 (868 review reads)
Rating: 1 Star

Advantages: None that I can think of

Disadvantages: Almost impossible to communicate with. Appalling customer service. Incompetent support staff.

I successfully registered some .eu domains with 123-reg.co.uk on 10th April. Now almost 8 weeks, around 20 emails, 1 letter and 5 premium rate phone calls later I am still unable to set the nameservers and have no control of my domains. I have not had the courtesy of a reply to my letter or a single email to explain the problem and nothing is posted on their website. A whois check confirms that the domains are mine. This is my first encounter with 123-reg. They came highly recommended but I can only speak as I find. Although they are cheap their customer service appears to be nil.

They probably are busy and working on their problems but that does not excuse their total lack of communication and apparent contempt for their customers. I have phoned their 50p-per-minute support desk but they were no help at all. The very least they could do would be to post a message on their website to explain the problems. Funnily enough when you send a message to tech support you get the following message:

"Thanks for sending your questions to 123-reg.

Your questions are important to us, one of our support team will be contacting you shortly."

If eight weeks is "shortly" I would hate to wait a long time. A few people I have spoken to have had no problems with 123-reg until they needed support or anything that required human attention.

Summary: If you want stress free domain registration keep clear. (My opinion)

Not sure which hosts are more reliable I'm afraid, don't think it's a config issue with your email client, more likely to be inept service from this crowd I'd say.
