When does the footie season start?

I heard it starts again in a few weeks, does anyone know the date? I'm not a huge fan of football but when there is a big game on a Wednesday night there is always a great atmosphere in my local pub. So am looking forward to the Wednesday night matches. The place is always packed and a good vibe exists. When does it re-commence?

It's usually about the first or second saturday in August.

Well the football season has already started.

Some teams are already playing in Europe (some of the smaller teams, but some from Scotland and Ireland already).

There is an England match on Wednesday 12th August, a friendly I think.

The Premier league then kicks off on Saturday 15th August, but of course they dont often play Premier matches midweek.

As it happens there are some matches on during the first midweek (Tuesday 18th, Wed 19th, Thu 20th), some in Europe (Arsenal, Everton, Villa etc) plus some Premier games (Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc).

Note sure as yet what matches are on TV
