Modern American films are generally a load of bollocks . . .

What is it with all these (mostly pointless and inferior) remakes of classic films? Are they running out of decent story ideas?

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

I still rate Pelham 123 as one of the best films I've ever seen - I have no desire ever to watch the remake, same line as I've taken with that other classic 'The Wicker Man'.

Why trade on the name ? Is the scenario and the characters similar broadly speaking ? If so it's not an 'inspired by' in my book.

Would be fairly pointless re-making since a large part of its effect would have been due to feelings of impending apocalypse which seemed quite plausible at the time ie there was a synergy with the mood of the time, the zeitgeist.
