To Much Police Action On The TV

Post by planeterotica »

I know that with ITV they have to make cutbacks because of the depression but surely the BBC dosnt have to show a police action programme tonight at the same time, its getting fucking boring we know people committ crimes ,most of us are victims and dont need to be reminded of it.

The BBC are funded by US and there is no way can they not afford to make decent programmes other than follow a few coppers around with a shaky camera and sensationlising it POLICE CAMERA ACTION or something like that !beddybyes!

How do they find enough coppers that can be arsed to get off their fat arses so they can actually be followed?

Unfortunately you get what you deserve and over the past decades anything relating to cop shows has been a hit

So now you get the best of both worlds...cheap reality TV plus cops

They throw away the acting fees and make a show about cops which costs three parts of fuck all when compared to say law and order-UK

About the only decent stuff on TV is to found via foreign movie channels
makes hollywood and govt tv programming look postively amateurish

The Big 'Dumb Down'.
Commercial TV (and radio, sadly) in trouble, and all are having to conform to lowest-common-denominator broadcasting to a greater extent.... The fact that ITV can turn around and announce that to cut costs they will cut down drastically on making dramas is an absolute disgrace.
People carp on about the license fee, but at least the BBC is duty-bound to make quality broadcasting and to cater for 'minority broadcasting' (eg Radio 3, BBC4) and it will be all we have left worth watching or listening to.... and the BBC's general mainstream TV has followed ITV down the toilet.

All the commercial TV and radio channels are now much the same - can anyone tell me the point?

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

The Police shows are some of the best slapstick comedies on TV. For all their high tec gadgets most of the cops shown couldn't catch a cold. When they do catch the odd crook he/she either gets off on a technicality or receives a laughable sentence compared to the offence and the amount of effort put in to making an arrest.

Whilst it is true that in certain circumstances you can now be arrested for photographing or filming Plod (yet another advance in the development of the UK Police State which has been going on under both Labour and the Tories since the early 1970s) I'm happy to see Plod telling those who object to being filmed for the shows that it is perfectly in order to film/photograph in a public place.

I've quoted such statements to both real and "plastic" policemen (security numpties) many times when they have exceeded their authority and every time have won the argument.

As to the broader issue of the dumbing down of TV, whilst having a great deal of choice is no bad thing, filling airtime with a balanced diet of entertainment, information and education is neither cheap nor easy but, compared to many other parts of the world where I've watched TV over the years, the choice in the UK is still exceptional.

I must have watched every "road wars" etc etc by now.
If I was a criminal or driving without insurance I would watch these programmes to get tips on how not to be pulled up.
Every time its the same,
the police pull over a car for somthing silly like a brake lamp out.
Next thing you know they find drugs in the car and the driver is either banned, drunk, drugged up or no insurance.
Every time its the same !!
