Ashes - Well Done England

Post by Deano! »

Congratulations on winning the Ashes. It is actually a relief to see a bit more competition happening now.

But we're still the world farnarkling champions though!

A mate down under just asked me if ALL the team are going to be made Lords after the win !!

I think the big test will be in 18 months time and then thats when we will see if the team is good enough

Retaining the ashes down under is the biggest challenge ahead and hopefully not a 5 nil smashing again !

I'm looking forward to seeing the 'Barmy Army' down here again. They're clever, funny and harmless. Their chants make our "Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi" look lame.

But we'll be hard to beat next time.

Oh did we win? I hadn't heard.

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

!love!

Ricky Ponting was the key man. Get him out and the others follow, not immediately mind.
When Fred ran him out on Sunday that was it. It was just a matter of time, and boy there was plenty of it.
Ponting should be rewarded with something, though I suspect the Oz selectors will sack him and blame him for two tours to England, two losses. The fact that he is in my mind the best batsman since Bradman will count for nought once he gets back home. What a captain, easily the best since Richie Benaud. He may not be effusive but is miles better than the former Captain Grumpy. What a hard man. That whack in the gob would have put a lesser man out, but no, Ricky got up, spat the blood from his mouth and got back to the job in hand. He could have been excused if he had taken himself to slip or gully but no he stayed where he was. Well done Ponting, that is what being a captain is all about.

Well said RoddersUK!!

i totally agree with you...I think Australia should give him the chance to regain the ashes in 18 months time... which I think they will....Thats regain but sadly they will not give him the chance

He is one of the best batsman in world

I tend to agree, too. Ponting is a good captain- and the C's
innings always suffer on promotion, as the England side has learnt
to its cost.

He's been let down by the other 10 and shouldn't suffer on their
behalf. the news this morning suggested that he won't. And Oz on
home turf is a very different proposition....

Just such a shame it is on Sky, marginalising it further.

Last time it was much more of a public event.

Just reinforces for me what a decent sport it is, played by decent sportsmen who are honest and down-to-earth, great role-models, unlike those squillionaires in the Prem.
